Why is that priest smiling and seemingly enjoying himself so much, especially given the supposed “grim” nature of his practice? Probably because he’s discovered a greater racket than he ever could have dreamed.

Did these people have any concept of witches and Satan before their exposure to some fundamentalist flavor of Christianity? Their exuberance at stigmatizing others suggests some kind new found relief in finding something with which to blame their troubles on.

Yes, it’s a racket. And every one of them is in on it – except the children of course, who are are the victims.

It reminds me of how I treated my younger brother when I was young. Not torture, but stuff like “if you don’t give me that toy, I won’t like you”. Most kids grow out of this very obvious form of manipulation when it doesn’t work, resorting to more sophisticated methods like “exchange” and “consensus”.

Kevin, the synopsis for that video includes the sentence ‘This film is directed by a son of a JESUIT missionary and actors ARE used, according to ABC news.’ The child-sacrificing may be happening, but it may also be souped up a bit. The quickest, most effective way to mercifully kill a terminally sick person is to asphyxiate them – especially if you’re poor and haven’t any drugs.

It may also be how desperately struggling cultures use eugenics in the face of the ravaging of their environments….. here by first-world cultures.

Good point. Those who were burying the children were probably just being compassionate towards terminally ill children, and removing the burden on tribe, so that the rest of the tribe could survive.
