The site pauseandlisten.org is up now

“Do you walk the path”
Or do you just talk it
Are you willing to face
The truth and not knock it

Now is the time
To check your beliefs
Through the lens that he gave us
Which is ever so brief

You’ve believed for so long
That just accepting was right
This is not what he meant
By “my burden is light”

So many cling
To their bible’s and guns
And all hang on the verse
That says “begotten son”

He lighted a path
That now we must follow
Unless our acceptance
Of him is but hollow

For you and your neighbor
Appear to be two
When the two become One
What will you do?

It's a bit hard to really work out what this guy is on about. And well, poetry sucks.

Ha, yea, the poems are a bit like Koans I think. I've had some back and forth with Anonymous... his message is pretty straightforward. Its fairly conducive to Gautama's teachings, but wrapped in the Biblical riddle. I could be wrong, but its definitely not your average Christian prose.

I'd say he is some manner of new age-kabalist-christian gnostic conglomeration. It's the thing to be, don't you know.

I watched the first 30 or so. Not bad. Entertaining if nothing else.

Rudimentary spirituality in iambic pentameter. Kind of thing a young single woman might buy in the self help section of a Barnes & Noble bookstore, along with some flowery gift wrap.

lol, a fairly judgemental group it seems to me. It's fun to categorize isn't it.

Dan, what do you mean poetry sucks? You used to write it yourself.

I'm not a poet and I know it
I'll write this piece to show it
I'm a thinker, with thoughts I tinker
And that's why this line doesn't quite rhyme.
Is that too sublime for the mind of the rind of the flesh, what a mess.
I'm not averse to verse on the girth-y purse of the men of earth who circumvent human worth through the lens of "self-first".

Just realize that I suck at it. I'm with Dan, poetry is a bit of a distraction to the thinker, but it can reach out to the delusional.

I think the judgements haven't been too far wide of the mark. I did ask if his poetic declarations echoed the Jesus of the Gospel of Thomas and he seemed to agree it did. I get a sort of theosophical vibe from him. If that's all he's got it won't capture my interest.

Why would you want yet another jingle to get into your head? Don't we geniuses agree that such things are a poor substitute for thinking?

I like jingles

I'm becoming less defined, as days go by
Fading away, well you might say I'm losing focus
Kind of drifting into the abstract in terms of how I see myself
Sometimes, I think I can see right through myself
Sometimes, I think I can see right through myself
Sometimes, I can see right through myself

Less concerned, about fitting into the world
Your world that is, cause it doesn't really matter anymore
(No, it doesn't really matter anymore)
No, it doesn't really matter anymore
None of this really matters anymore

Yes, I am alone, but then again I always was
As far back as I can tell, I think maybe it's because
Because you were never really real to begin with
I just made you up to hurt myself

I just made you up to hurt myself
Yeah, and I just made you up to hurt myself
I just made you up to hurt myself
Yeah, and I just made you up to hurt myself

And it worked
Yes it did!

There is no you, there is only me
There is no you, there is only me
There is no fucking you, there is only me
There is no fucking you, there is only me

Only

When, the tiniest little dot caught my eye
And it turned out to be a scab
And I had this funny feeling
Like I just knew it's something bad

I just couldn't leave it alone
I kept picking at that scab
It was a doorway trying to seal itself shut
But I climbed through

Now I'm somewhere I am not supposed to be
And I can see things I know I really shouldn't see
And now I know why now, now I know why
Things aren't as pretty on the inside

There is no you, there is only me
There is no you, there is only me
There is no fucking you, there is only me
There is no fucking you, there is only me

Only

True enough. I'm open to all expressions whether they are clear or theosophical. For one thing, versing myself in the Bible grants me the tools to change minds that are already consumed by Biblical terminology. I think Neil deGrasse Tyson put it well to Richard Dawkins at Beyond Belief '06, its the combination of knowledge and a respect for the mental state of other people that affects change. With barbed approaches like Dawkins we only serve to divide and conquer, perhaps a better term would be "barbarous" approach. Not that I am one to talk, lol, I've been removed from many online communities.... but I'm working on it!

Don’t be deceived
For God is not mocked
Would he ask you to enter
A door that is locked

You’ve reaped a good harvest
Of merciful deeds
For you planted a garden
with merciful seeds

Attentive to measurements
Values of right
Meters of righteousness
Done in HIS sight

You reserved any judgment
For the one who is all
For united we stand
But divided we fall

You forgave and are given
Forgiveness in kind
For your father forgave
And you are of like mind

You’ve copied to carbon
The things that you heard
With good measure you copied
The essence of word

Which promises us
That to heaven we grow
In the way of the word
That we reap what we sow

Oh
Once upon a looking-for-Donna-time
There was a sixteen year old virgin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna

I just got back from looking for Donna
San Francisco
Psychedelic urchin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna

Have you seen
My sixteen year old tattooed woman
Heard a story
She got busted for her beauty oh oh oh
Oh oh!

Once upon a looking-for-Donna-time
There was a sixteen year old virgin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna

I've been to India and saw the yogi light (lie?)
In South America the Indian smoke glows bright
I'm reincarnated and so are we all
And in this lifetime we'll rise
Before we fall
Before we fall

Once upon a looking-for-Donna-time
There was a sixteen year old virgin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna

And I'm going to show her
Life on earth can be sweet
Gonna lay my mutated head (self) at her feet
And I'm gonna love her make love to her
Till the sky turns brown
I'm evolving I'm evolving
Through the drugs
That you put down

Once upon a looking-for-Donna-time
There was a sixteen year old virgin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna
Looking for my Donna

Unknown men in ancient times
With inward sight and upward minds
With righteous dreams for better days
Who kindled sparks for truth to blaze

One thousand years before the east
Made west their way, they formed the yeast
And melded dreams with truth and action
Truth dissenting was the faction

Men bound by a secret oath
Who met in secret for the growth
Of people in a new found land
Who shared a dream and made a plan

And in their plan to promulgate
The new world with the Christian faith
At peace with other faiths and mystics
Dreams are often altruistic

With Sir Francois Bacon at the head
Believing basic truth would spread
Equality was their intent
This basic truth self evident

The many faiths would colonize
This new world and the truth would rise
Like leaven in the minds of all
As one will stand and five will fall

For if two make peace
In this one house
Then three are likely to espouse
The truth of which all five agree
That oneness is the new decree
