THIRD WORLD WAR

Post by Tomas »

.

man kill man, just like the thief
man steals the land
then comes the law, hiding it all
master of plans...
freedom comes creeping
after you take all you can

man burns earth, cunning machines
ravage it all
man leads man into the ditch,
the first to fall...
skylines of concrete
bringing an end to it all

the third war is coming to town
nowhere to run
before the truth goes down

man looks behind when he conquers it
all~to find that his knowledge is dust...
racing to find what he knows in his
mind~is simply his greed and his lust

it won't be long when doom goes
around~nowhere to hide when all the
hate goes down

man of weapons, man of war
who wants to win?
dressed like a saint, shining of gold
burdened with sin
speaking of seeking, only to be where
you've been

the 3rd world war is bringing me down
nowhere to run before the big meltdown
the 3rd world war is coming to town
nothing to plead before the big meltdown
the 3rd world war is rolling around
nowhere to hide before the big meltdown

The Convert
_____________________________________________________________________

What territory should I defend?
Towards what ideal let my soul bend?
Once answered, such questions style
The fit of his uniform, as he takes
The offensive for something
Authoritarian, tight-lipped or corrupt.

Then, his bullets speak for him:
Three dimensional syllables capable
Of moving in one direction:
Pointed, cold, hard – forged from
A twisted fire that duty burns through
His eyes, moving him to violate
The grounds of another’s flesh;

To send fountains of blood gushing;
To witness the slow gurgling out of life;
To feel the ecstasy of power
Seal with approval the sneer of triumph,
That cracks the corners of his lips,
As his brother, the enemy, dies…

Biased Ink
_____________________________________________________________________

History is written with a biased ink,
That traces the shift of nations
And all the glories of their retinue,
Who cultivate a sentiment for flags,
Decorated bosoms, trumpets under skies
At dawn, and a trail of litanies
For the glorious, glorious dead.

But let’s close our history books
And take a walk along a sleazy street,
You know, where all the con - merchants,
Pimps and robbers meet; let’s climb
The stairs to where two voices traffic
Through an open window above the street,
One in uniform, the other, stately dressed.

Now listen closely - can you hear?
Power dealing for cash and cash for power.
And after, the broadcasts to the nation,
With every little Hitler and Stalin, and all
The strumpets of democracy, oozing ideals.
Then, finally, the signed cheque
Slipped beneath the court historian’s door.

Hey Mr. Jones

Post by Tomas »

.

Lying there on thin black ice
Unnoticed, 12,000 prisoners wail in the night
If you play in the past or lie in the yard
Well it's only a small delinquence

Hey mr. jones, we understand
you're coming home today
Hey mr. jones we thought we heard you
on the radio and you sounded like...JFK

Weathermen and FBI, a space eye in your window
B52s in Saigon and a map on the wall
Well the colors of war are the same as before
If you stand in the wrong direction

Lately i've been thinking
about the grass on the ceiling
Lately i've been wondering
whose position you've been stealing

Pools of indigo like blood light up your eyes
On sunday a demonstration of faith
Tripped you up for a while

Lately i've been thinking
of father's gun on the table
Lately i've been wondering
Is my position stable

Hey Mr. Jones...we understand your situation

fatman

Post by Tomas »

I saw the fat man
do the Shimmy
and he shimmied
Like he didn't give a shit
I wish that I could shimmy
like the Fat Man
So much easy grace
Joy was flashing 'pon his face
Go Fat Man
Go Fat Man

And in the left corner
we have the Fat Man
doing the shimmy
In the right corner
we have no one
cause no one can shimmy
like the Fat Man

fatman shimmy for me

Body bag

Post by Tomas »

.

There was a man - Loved his girl
Loved her - Loved her So much
Turned her into a Time bomb
she was ticking
Ticking with Love

The Sky explodes - above a peasant with a radio
Listening to - His Masters Voice
Says he Loves Him
His Masters Voice
says he loves him

I could be - like some poor indian
waiting for the railway
To bring me friends
Friends with promises
Promised friends
Hearts weak
Love pure

Then the man with the badge Selling promises and
candy-floss ducked into the alley for a meeting with
his boss - pulled into the Sideroad on the
edge of town dumped the body in the bag and turned
the car around - I could end up the body in
the bag while somebody leans across a map
full of flags - Love could be a vicious game for two at
home or Just the full blown version with guns and
Songs - some plant flowers for Love
well some plant bombs

Then I'm gone
and I'm gone
now I'm gone

I have walked through this world,
and i have journeyed inward
i have warmed in the light of all things, and i have known the cold
that is found in the heart of darkness
i have listened intently to the words of those most pious, and i have
nursed from the breast of depravity
i have given, and i have taken
i have seen clearly, and i have stumbled in confusion
i have laughed without end, and i have cried without hope
i have given life, and i have taken life
i have reveled in wealth, and i have starved in poverty
i have learned from the greatest books and minds, and i have also
seen the folly in the vanity of intellect
i have danced in joy, and i have been made still by sorrow
i have known adulation and victory,
and i have known isolation and defeat
i have known what it is to find,
and i have known what it is to have lost

and i will tell you this:

i have seen no fortune, nor wisdom, nor pleasure greater than.........

love

Had i have known the future.........shock.........i might have asked mother to talk
the doctor into leaving us, the womb was such a magic bus.....but, through
that gate i found my way, my first words i began to say, puzzled by this sudden
change even then my thoughts were strange.........

i couldn't run, i couldn't soar......so i chose to live my life on a skateboard....

time began to weave its clothes, that never fit until you're old when it's too late to
change the fit, you're frightened by the thought of it....
school began to subjugate, my innocence so i could hate, the class clown was the
sanest thing, the teacher's hand an empty sting

you can never go home again, you can never go home again, you can never
go home.......again......

the day soon came, a chance for wings, i thought i'd do so many things, that changed
a life or really mattered, but i fell for the holding pattern......
to that reflection i'm a man and still i just can't understand, how deep simplicity can
get, the more that i unravel it......

i could've run, i could've soared......but i chose to live my life on a skateboard......

That's Tomas. Actually I should have said the last one was from that page. Don't know about the others. You'd have to Google the first line of each.

Hell no!

It's a CD from Altered State. A very arcane band.

If I like what words I can make out, then I'll plunk down the $$ to figure out what they are trying to get across. The beat is secondary.

Very few of these I've written.

Being deaf in one ear makes all music sound monotone.. Makes for a bad conversation at times :-(

Probably why I tend to avoid almost all the YouTube out there.

Suppose I could stoop down a tad and attribute most of this to some musical author.. but it's a lot like the idiots here who hold Nietzsche as some sort of overlord. Nietzsche get lost in the translation from French to English.

Now, the King James Bible .. the whole truth from Genesis to Revelation..

I'm not trying to start another Jewish thread, tomas, but it isn't Kosher to post stuff that isn't yours without saying whose it is. It's lazy, dishonest, and confusing. It makes the thread worthless because there's no context. It drags down your cred.

'Mustard-Colored Poop'

Obama's Poet: 'Mustard-Colored Poop'

-snip-

Vividly concrete images indeed. Consider this segment from an Alexander poem titled "Neonatology."

"46 & 2" by Tool

Post by Animus »

"My shadow's

Shedding skin and
I've been picking
Scabs again.
I'm down
Digging through
My old muscles
Looking for a clue.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in.
I wanna feel the changes coming down.
I wanna know what I've been hiding in

My shadow.
Change is coming through my shadow.
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
And insecure delusions.

I wanna feel the change consume me,
Feel the outside turning in.
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured within

My shadow
Change is coming.
Now is my time.
Listen to my muscle memory.
Contemplate what I've been clinging to.
Forty-six and two ahead of me.

I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through.

I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through.

See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me.
Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side.
Step into the shadow.
Forty six and two are just ahead of me."

APOLLO ONE

Post by Tomas »

WE HAVE A LAUNCH DATE
WE CAN PROCEED WITH THE COUNTDOWN
CAN'T HAVE A SETBACK
OR WE'LL LOSE GROUND TO THE RUSSIANS
THIS TEAM OF EXPERTS
IS NUMBER ONE IN THE NATION
AND GETTING READY
WITH LUNAR SIMULATION

ABOARD APOLLO ONE
THERE'S BEEN A MAJOR COMMOTION
A LITTLE SPARKY
HAS LIT UP THE OXYGEN
COMMANDER WHITE SAYS
THE TEMPERATURE'S RISING
THE CAPSULE INSIDE
HAS TURNED TO A FIREBALL

THEY'LL TAKE A WALK IN SPACE
FLOAT AWAY
AND THEY WON'T COME BACK
DRESS THEIR KIDS
AND THEIR WIVES IN BLACK
THREE MEN DIE
IN THEIR SPACE CADILLAC

Tomas, I've said it before, you are an interesting poet. I'm especially impressed by the dramatic effect you get in this piece, with the all caps and the lack of punctuation except for your trademark opening and closing dots. Tres avant garde.

Yes, it's known that Thomas the Tank Engine wrote it to be announced through a megaphone while the audience is supposed to crouch together on the floor in a bunker a few hundreds meters further.

-Diebert van Rhijn-
Yes, it's known that Thomas the Tank Engine

-tomas-
It took a few years for me to figure out what some people on the 'Net were talking about regarding "the tank engine". Didn't know it was a search engine..

The Tank - came from an incident that happened while I was in VietNam .. well before the internet (then intra-net) came of age. And no, Al Gore didn't create the internet but was instrumental (while in Congress) getting seed money to the universities. And yes, Albert Arnold Gore was named after Albert Arnold Pike..

-Diebert rants-
wrote it to be announced through a megaphone

-tomas-
Sorry to disappoint but a fellow named Paul Leary (The History of Dogs) wrote it .. and he capped the lyrics. He sings (it) in a style reminiscent of Tiny Tim but with all the voiceovers and instrumentation of the early-1990s. A one-man band.

It's one of those one-album wonders. Bought the CD for .50 cents American. Some out-of-the-way place in Nebraska.

-Diebert mimics the government-
while the audience is supposed to crouch together on the floor in a bunker a few hundreds meters further.

-tomas-
I've witnessed a couple shuttle launches, one day and one night shot, I preferred the night shot. Smoked some primo reefer ahead of time. The day shot was interesting as one could watch it disappear into the blue horizon.
