"Boys whose mothers had the highest phthalate levels were more likely than others to show three anatomic differences: smaller penises, a shorter distance between the anus and base of the penis..."

I just don't know, Elizabeth, if Quinn, Rowden or Solway have much of a case.

How could it be proven that diminished penises (penii?) were caused by chemicals in plastics? Or that it has affected their relations with the female of the species? Did their mothers notice the deficient penises when they were born? Did they take note of it, make some calls?

When Solway states that at age 10 he had 'exhausted the possibilities of relations with women', is there something we don't know, something we haven't been told?

Also, I think the word 'phthalate' MUST be a jab at the gays, and in that is offensive given the delicacy of this issue. Since gays are known to lisp, it seems cruel to use this (invented) word 'phthalate'.

Thanks for posting this and let's hope that someone takes action.

Phthalates

Post by sue hindmarsh »

Alex wrote:

I note that Johnson's Baby are advertising the risks: here
Until recently they were used in babies' dummies and teething rings, but the European Union has now banned their use in products "intended to be chewed or sucked in children under three". However, these chemicals are still used in soft plastic toys, such as bath toys and squeezy toys, so it is still possible for your baby to ingest them.
Adults also aren't fussy about what they chew on and handle: Greenpeace.
Phthalates can still be widely found in products ranging from cosmetics to floor coverings, and are known to leach out into the environment (or into your body, in the case of sex toys) over time.
So this is a serious issue; one that both major corporations, governments and non-government organizations are concerned about.

I noticed a few people commented on Sarah Palin earlier as the Republican VP choice. Here is an interesting criticism by Matt Damon:

They played his comments on the Stern Show. I usually don't even listen to actors let alone agree with them, but Matt's right on the money this time.

Yes, Sarah Palin is a very scary character because obviously, what you see is what you get. Her simple minded, straight talking style stands out in contrast to the other people in the race for America's top jobs. She's a mom and a wife, and proud of it - and it is those credentials alone she is running on. And that really is political genius. Who ever thought of running her knew that the American psyche would accept Palin as wife to McCain, and identify with them as a family. The fact that John and Sarah are not a real husband and wife team doesn’t make any difference to those who feel most comfortable with the fantasy. As John and Sarah join a long line of beloved imaginary husband and wife teams that have best expressed the huge attachment American's have to the traditional definition of marriage between one man and one woman: Ozzie and Harriett, Jim and Margaret Anderson (Father Knows Best), Ward and June Cleaver (Leave It To Beaver), Lucy and Ricky, Ralph and Alice (The Honeymooners), and Homer and Marge Simpson.

Yes, recognizing that Sarah Palin was wife, and nothing but wife, was a stroke of genius. Before Palin, McCain was just another politician. Now he has been raised to the highest station society deems for a man: husband. Together, he and Sarah represent 'the loftiest' for many, many, many people.

God have mercy on us all.

Nepal declares young girl new living goddess

Nepal declares young girl new living goddess

3-year-old will be worshipped as incarnation of the Hindu deity Taleju

-snips-
As a final test, the living goddess must spend a night alone in a room among the heads of ritually slaughtered goats and buffaloes without showing fear.

Nepalese folklore holds that men who marry kumari will die young, and so many girls remain unmarried and face a life of hardship.

In my opinion, both the republican and democratic parties have candidates that appeal to people's emotions. On the democratic side, Barack Obama gives speeches designed to fire up people's emotions, but the speech itself is usually very vague and lacking clarity. And on the republican side, Sarah Palin is the type of candidate that affects people's emotions superficially based on how sexually alluring she is. Basically, each side has a spell for people to fall under.

Matt Damon has a point - the last thing any country needs is a political figure who is basically a Christin baby machine, a non-believer of evolution, a supporter of anti-abortion laws, and someone who uses her political power to try to get science books and sexual books banned from public libraries.

Critics say the tradition violates both international and Nepalese laws on child rights. The girls often struggle to readjust to normal lives after they return home.
Yes, employing a child in such a way is medieval. But what else can one expect from a people who haven't been able to mentally lift themselves up out of superstition and fear.

The father of the girl intuitively knows that he isn't fulfilling his fatherly obligation to protect his daughter. He said, "I feel a bit sad". But he knows he is powerless against the hold religion has on his community, and on his own self - he gives in, saying, "since my child has become a living goddess I feel proud".

But the above scenario isn't that much of a step away from how adults belonging to religions here in the so-called modern world take their children with them to their church so that they too can become indoctrinated with the same superstitions and fears of the parents. Like the Nepalese child, these children are also having their rights violated. The mental abuse they are subjected to should be acknowledged as a crime. And parents who indulge themselves in such pleasures should be prosecuted like any other child molester.

You got a better idea?

On the democratic side, Barack Obama gives speeches designed to fire up people's emotions, but the speech itself is usually very vague and lacking clarity.

-tomas-
Probably his past cocaine use has clouded his thought processes.

-Ryan-
And on the republican side, Sarah Palin is the type of candidate that affects people's emotions superficially based on how sexually alluring she is.

-tomas-
Ok, you'd have her wear a veil?

Basically, each side has a spell for people to fall under.

-tomas-
Are you suggesting there are only two sides of a story?

-Ryan-
Matt Damon has a point - the last thing any country needs is a political figure who is basically a Christian baby machine,

-tomas-
Yeah, those virgin Catholic girls (Sarah was raised Catholic until age-14) are a dime-a-dozen.

Matt Damon and his wife have two daughters .. is his wife a baby machine? And, his wife had another baby from a previous relationship.

-Ryan-
a non-believer of evolution,

-tomas-
Evidence to back up this assertion?

-Ryan-
a supporter of anti-abortion laws,

-tomas-
Please cite evidence that she ever sought to overturn state (case) law.

-Ryan-
and someone who uses her political power to try to get science books

-tomas-
Evidence?

-Ryan-
and sexual books banned from public libraries.

-tomas-
You're so full of shit Ryan, that isn't true!

Oh, by the way - So that's where you read Playboy, Hustler mags .. you're the pervert who's been ripping out the centerfolds and leaving them in the bathroom stall?

PS - Happy birthday, Matt Damon - October 8, 1970

His parents divorced at age-2. Now, there's a family that stays together.

Yes and no, Sue. It's just another Pagan religion.

But how can they be prosecuted when that is the major religion at play? America is essentially Catholic and Protestant.

Yes and no, Sue. It's just another Pagan religion.
That's the problem! Christians, Jews, and Muslims don't think their practices are pagan. And people of those faiths would quickly judge the Nepalese girl's fate as being "barbaric", because they'd see that it was based on superstitious nonsense. They'd readily call for the girl to be taken from her family to be placed elsewhere so that she could grow up normally. But what right would they have to think that? Their faiths are also generated and sustained by superstitions. And they also ill treat their children by making them go along with the superstitious nonsense that supports Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
But how can they be prosecuted when that is the major religion at play? America is essentially Catholic and Protestant.
You're correct, presently the balance is tipped in favor of the insane. Hopefully it won't always be that way.

Maybe they could do assembly line work, help out at nursing homes, stuff like that. With the baby boomer population getting up there, we could use some more nursing home workers,
Well, I have been proven right.

Although broken was a bit closer:

Simple, Dan has said repeatedly to you, (and Carl), to put something extra in there besides a URL.

I'd rather let the website speak for itself, so the reader can judge for himself.

Unlike you, who has announced that your mind is made up and you're voting for Obama..
