This seems pretty unlikely to me.

The six pieces, that is, not the collapse.

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but there are several states, at least, that would rather be independent. The return of the Republic of Texas would not be unwelcome in Texas. Montana, I think, would be happy to go it alone. I could see a similar movement in New Hampshire. California has a much different culture than the states around it. Alaska has it's own independence movement. Canada can have Michigan, if it wants it.

As for Pennsylvania - well, I'd go to war rather than be thrown in with New Jersey. (Seriously, fuck New Jersey.) Although chances are good that, by then, I'll be living in rural New York, growing vegetables, raising chickens and drawing very little attention to myself.

If that happens Sarah Palin really could see Russia from her house!

Alaska: A Pedophile's Paradise

This morning, 43 Alaskan Natives filed a lawsuit against the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) claiming a widespread conspiracy to dump pedophile priests in small Alaskan towns and shelter them from exposure.

The Jesuits, he said, sent known pedophiles to isolated Alaskan villages-many of them only accessible by boat or plane-to let them abuse children with impunity.

She said her abuse started when she was 13 and depressed by the treatment she and other village children suffered from the nuns. "They managed us like wild ponies and beat us every day," she said. "They said it was good for our characters."

Rena Abouchuk said the priest raped and molested her and her cousins, often together in the same room, and offered to let them ring the church bells as a prize for complicity.

"The Catholic Church has the largest body of non-incarcerated pedophiles in the world," he said. "These guys should be sent to the Mayo Clinic and studied to find out what makes them tick... they're some of the weirdest characters you will ever meet."
