WELCOME TO THE BOOMTOWN

Post by Tomas »

.

Ms. Cristina drives a nine four four
Satisfaction oozes from her pores
She keeps rings on her fingers
Marble on her floor
Cocaine on her dresser
Bars on her doors
She keeps her back against the wall
She keeps her back against the wall

So I say
I say welcome, welcome to the boomtown
Pick a habit
We got plenty to go around
Welcome, welcome to the boomtown
All that money makes such a succulent sound
Welcome to the boomtown

Handsome Kevin got a little off track
Took a year off of college
And he never went back
Now he smokes too much
He's got a permanent hack
Deals dope out of Denny's
Keeps a table in the back
He always listens to the ground
Always listens to the ground

So I say
I say welcome, welcome to the boomtown
Pick a habit
We got plenty to go around
Welcome, welcome to the boomtown
All that money makes such a succulent sound
Welcome to the boomtown

Well the ambulance arrived too late
I guess she didn't want to wait

Verse one (HOT DOG)

Ships and whips came coming in tons
I saw some guns and Indian drums
Now here comes the Klan but where's Farakan
They got a plan, I see who they be
These are crooks who write their own books
Changing the pages of long gone ages
I know what happened, I read between the lines of chapters
Watch out now we're comin' at ya!

Verse two (MUSHTAQ)

I'm a soldier in the name of Allah
So put down the cross and pick up the "X"
Do you know where you're goin' to
Do you know where you're comin' from
You're scared of the sun
1995, Elijah is alive
Louis Farakan, the Nation of Islam
That's where I got my degree from
So watch out now I'm comin' at ya!

Verse three (HOT DOG)

Scripted events of how the world went
Changing the truth with a quill full of ink
But think for a second, don't you reckon it's true
They lied about me, they lied about you
Changing the way children are taught
The public opinion paid for and bought
I know what happened, I read between the lines of chapters
Watch out now we're comin' at ya!

Verse four (MUSHTAQ)

Don't call me chicken because I am a panther
Lyrical gangsta and the tormentor
Listen to me hard, don't turn away you know why
I'm comin' at ya!
(HOT DOG)
Fearing my words like a Dracula movie
That's why the powers that be try to move me
I know what happened, I read between the lines of chapters
Watch out now, I'm comin' at ya!

Verse five (MUSHTAQ)

Back in the days of the slave ships
You had us whipped, raped and lynched
Took away the Quran, you gave us the Bible
Now we're livin' in a nightmare
Where black is bad and white is supreme
Fuch that shit, I'm comin' at ya!

I SIT and look out upon all the sorrows of the world, and upon all oppression and shame;
I hear secret convulsive sobs from young men, at anguish with themselves, remorseful after deeds done;
I see, in low life, the mother misused by her children, dying, neglected, gaunt, desperate;
I see the wife misused by her husband—I see the treacherous seducer of young women;
I mark the ranklings of jealousy and unrequited love, attempted to be hid—I see these sights on the earth; 5
I see the workings of battle, pestilence, tyranny—I see martyrs and prisoners;
I observe a famine at sea—I observe the sailors casting lots who shall be kill’d, to preserve the lives of the rest;
I observe the slights and degradations cast by arrogant persons upon laborers, the poor, and upon negroes, and the like;
All these—All the meanness and agony without end, I sitting, look out upon,
See, hear, and am silent.

DOWN IN THE MALL

Post by Tomas »

.

There's a brand new shopping center seven storeys high
There's bound to be a sale or two-something we can buy
There's four floors of parking and we're sure to find a place
We'll spend all the money the government doesn't take

Shopping for a pair of shoes, shopping for a hat
We're buying some of this and we're buying some of that
We'll shop up a storm 'till we can't shop no more
Then we're stopping off at the video store

Down in the mall
I'll be your man
We'll go shopping, babe
It's something we can stand
Down in the mall
We'll be alright
Monday through Saturday
'Til nine o'clock at night

We're buying CD's and we're buying lingerie
We'll put it on a charge account we're never gonna pay
Department store, camera store, tobacco store, appliance store
Sporting goods, oriental imports
You buy everything you want and then you want more

Down in the mall
I'll be your man
We'll go shopping, babe
It's something we can stand
Down in the mall
We will abide
Up on the escalator
Darling we will ride
Down in the mall

Over My Head

you can take me to paradise
and then again you can be cold as ice
i'm over my head
but it sure feels nice

you can take me anytime you like
i'll be around if you think you might
love me baby
and hold me tight

your mood is like a circus wheel
you're changin' all the time
sometimes i can't help but feel
that i'm wastin' all of my time....

think i'm lookin' on the dark side
but everyday you hurt my pride
i'm over my head
but it sure feels nice
i'm over my head
but it sure feels nice

Well, I consist of the flesh and a mind like the rest
When put to the test, I digress and express, the best of the text our ancestors have left, a mess of reflex, contrived to impress, the crest of the flesh, (the subconscious)

'fore I came to this scene, I had to lean, to talk, to walk, or crawl on my knees, had I eyes to see my destiny I'd skip o'er these clones, drones and hypocrisy. Fools don't think, they drink and blink without a chink in their self-esteem, animosity, tossin' me verbiage due to a fact they can't see.

Y'all got to know the truth that has root, like a boot on the ground, surrounded by pounds of mud and sinking in deeper to be consumed by a flood of ignorant theories and superfluous crud. A truth that is old, been told and retold but never takes hold in the heart of the soul that conforms to the mold of a visceral fold.

I'm angry as hell and won't take anymore, said the network anchor as he stepped off the floor, he fought the fight like a knight for the right of the human mind, inclined instead to rewind and recline while imbibing the juice thats making us blind. The time is now to get up and shout and spout from the mouth, a world without doubt. No longer will I watch as the hate mongers ponder and preach, I'll step to the street with a package of heat, like an interlocutor, bonder, I'll do it by myself, self-suicide bomber.
Just in case I get tagged for Klassic Cipher, plus I like scribbling rhymes. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_PCd4SmXUs

Poetry (Garden Party)

Post by Tomas »

.

I went to a garden party to reminisce with my old friends
A chance to share old memories and play our songs again
When I got to the garden party, they all knew my name
No one recognized me, I didn't look the same

But it's all right now, I learned my lesson well
You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself

People came from miles around, everyone was there
Yoko brought her walrus, there was magic in the air
An' over in the corner, much to my surprise
Mr. Hughes hid in Dylan's shoes wearing his disguise

But it's alright now, I learned my lesson well
You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself

lot-in-dah-dah-dah, lot-in-dah-dah-dah

I played them all the old songs, thought that's why they came
No one heard the music, we didn't look the same
I said hello to "Mary Lou", she belongs to me
When I sang a song about a honky-tonk, it was time to leave

But it's alright now, I learned my lesson well
You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself

lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah)
lot-in-dah-dah-dah

Someone opened up a closet door and out stepped Johnny B. Goode
Playing guitar like a-ringin' a bell and lookin' like he should
If you gotta play at garden parties, I wish you a lotta luck
But if memories were all I sang, I rather drive a truck

But it's all right now, learned my lesson well
You see, ya can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself

An' it's all right now, learned my lesson well
You see, ya can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself

In Ricky Nelson's "Garden Party," who is Mr. Hughes?

Chasin' the Beatles

Post by Tomas »

.

From primitive days in American soul
Stardom lights at the Hollywood bowl
Helter Skelter hectic days
Drug infested psychic haze
Learning while the world watched
Not afraid to get caught

Led the ultimate fantasy party life
Stoning with the kings wife
Maharishi in the head
John declares Jesus is dead
Midwest bible belters fight
Can't admit he's probably right

Everybody's
Chasin' the Beatles
Who did the Beatles chase?

Early jazzers chased the Bird
Now they're rhyming spoken word
Later on they chased the Trane
Now they're chasin' penny lane
Chasin mass popularity
Chases originality

Turn the TV and radio on
Everybody cops the Beatles song
From Guns & Roses faggot song
To Public Enemy's vicious thugs
Now they call it media hype
The Beatles tried to get on with their life

Everybody's
Chasin' the Beatles
Who did the Beatles chase?

Now Ringo cuts hair in a hair salon
George sings Travelin' Wilbury songs
Paul is in the kitchen baking broccoli bread
At least relieved that John is dead
No amount of money or public acclaim
Will ever bring the Beatles back together again

Everybody's
Chasin' the Beatles
Who did the Beatles chase?

"After Forever"

Post by Tomas »

.

Have you ever thought about your soul - can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave
Is God just a thought within your head or is he a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?

When you think about death do you lose your breath or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope - do you think he's a fool?
Well I have seen the truth, yes I've seen the light and I've changed my ways
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared at the end of our days

Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believed in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
that God is the only way to love

Is you mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say they may as well worship the sun?

I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near, say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down, now you can't retrieve

Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate
Or will you still jeer at all you hear? Yes! I think it's too late.

God is a Concept by which
we measure our pain
I'll say it again
God is a Concept by which
we measure our pain
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I-ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in Tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in Mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in Yoga
I don't believe in Kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me...and that reality

The dream is over
What can I say?
the Dream is Over
Yesterday
I was the Dreamweaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
and so dear friends
you'll just have to carry on
The Dream is over

Yeah right, prince, someone should write a pop song about "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs" for the more pragmatically inclined. What rhymes with "self actualization"?

"I am a Rock"
Simon and Garfunkel

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December
I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow
I am a rock
I am a island

I've built walls
A fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need of friendship
Friendship causes pain
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain
I am a rock
I am an island

Don't talk of love
Well, I've heard the word before
It's sleeping in my memory
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died
If I never loved I never would have cried
I am a rock
I am an island

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room-safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me
I am a rock
I am an island

..And a rock feels no pain...
And an island never cries...

God is good
God great
But he won't let me masturbate
God is smart
He's fuckin' wise
But no way he's gonna apologise
He made the Jews
Gave 'em high IQs
They did 9/11 and made front page news
Get down y'all
God is transcendent
He wears a gold pendant
He invented paisley shirts
And that still hurts
God is above
He's made of love
His head is the shape
Of a big white dove
Get down y'all
But God is bad
He makes me sad
He invented cancer
And killed my dad
He ain't so cool
And I ain't no fool
If you think he exists
You're a fuckin' tool
Get down y'all

I'm Your Captain (Closer To Home)

Post by Tomas »

.

Everybody listen to me
And return me my ship
I'm your Captain, I'm your Captain
Though I'm feeling mighty sick

I've been lost now days uncounted
And it's months since I've been home
Can you hear me, can you hear me
Or am I all alone

If you return me to my home port
I will kiss you, mother Earth
Take me back now, take me back now
To the port of my birth

Am I in my cabin dreaming
Or are you really scheming
To take my ship away from me
You'd better think about it
I just can't live without it
So please don't take my ship from me
Yeah, yeah, yeah

I can feel the hand of a stranger
And it's tightening 'round my throat
Heaven help me, heaven help me
Take this stranger from my boat
I'm your Captain, I'm your Captain
Though I'm feeling mighty sick
Everybody listen to me
And return me my ship

I'm your Captain, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm getting closer to my home

Tomas, that reminds me of a song by Richard Ashcroft, "Lord I've Been Trying"

Lord, I've been trying
Trying to keep myself from crying
And it gets hard, there's no use denying
There's been some nights when I did a little lying

Sure feels like I've been here before
Yes it sure feels like I've been here before

Captain tell me where I've been,
Are there waves left there for me?
Is there something left to see?
Is there something left to be?
Oh I know that I'm holding on but I've got time to grow
Alright, alright, alright
Said it's alright, now

Days that I've been spending
And all these blues - they're never ending
And it gets hard, and life will go on again
Gonna shake off these blues, I'm leaving them now

Sure feels like I've been here before
Yes it sure feels like I've been here before

Captain tell me where I've been,
Are there waves left there for me?
Can you see the warning sign
Flashing there in my mind?
My mind is free and I'm talking up to you - I say
"Alright, alright, alright"

(I've been trying)
It feels good, it feels good, it feels good, it feels good, it feels good
(To keep my soul from crying)
My love is alright now,
(I've been trying)
Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it feels right
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it feels right

-

(it's an alright tune, worth a listen. R)

If you listen to a story
If you've got time to spare
A story of factory fodder
A story that really could scare
From the playing fields of Harrow
Came an image of what should be
Hail Jerusalem, Milton and Keats
What did Latin mean to me

Never going to reach that State of
Never going to reach that State of
Never ever gonna reach that State of Grace

Values from Victorian England
Taken to the wastelands of urban decay
How do you think that would ever succeed
In the minds of the new breed

Never going to reach that State of
Never going to reach that State of
Never ever gonna reach that State of Grace

Space Is Deep

Post by Tomas »

Space is dark, it is so endless
When you're lost it's so relentless
It does not feel, it does not die
Space is neither truth nor lie
Is this the reason, deep in our minds?

It does not feel, it does not die
Space is neither truth nor lie
Into the void we have to travel
To find the clue which will unravel
Is this the reason, deep in our minds?

The secret lies with our tomorrow
In each of us is a hidden sorrow
The path goes onwards through the night
Beyond the realms of ancient light
Is this the reason, deep in our minds?

Aenima lyrics by Tool

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this

Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car.

It's a
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.

Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Silly shit, silly shit, stupid shit...

One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.

Mum's gonna fix it all soon.
Mum's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Learn to swim.

Fuck L Ron Hubbard and
Fuck all his clones.
Fuck all these gun-toting
Hip gangster wannabes.

Learn to swim.

Fuck retro anything.
Fuck your tattoos.
Fuck all you junkies and
Fuck your short memory.

Learn to swim.

Fuck smiley glad-hands,
With hidden agendas.
Fuck these dysfunctional,
Insecure actresses.

Learn to swim.

Cuz I'm praying for rain
And I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way.
I wanna watch it all go down.
Mum please flush it all away.
I wanna see it go right in and down.
I wanna watch it go right in.
Watch you flush it all away.

Time to bring it down again.
Don't just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend.

I wanna see it come down.
Come down.
Suck it down.
Flush it down.
