'Lullaby' ~ Loreena McKennitt

*

O for a voice like thunder
William Blake

O for a voice like thunder, and a tongue
To drown the throat of war! When the senses
Are shaken, and the soul is driven to madness,
Who can stand? When the souls of the oppressèd

Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand?
When the whirlwind of fury comes from the
Throne of God, when the frowns of his countenance
Drive the nations together, who can stand?

When Sin claps his broad wings over the battle,
And sails rejoicing in the flood of Death;
When souls are torn to everlasting fire,
And fiends of Hell rejoice upon the slain,

O who can stand? O who hath causèd this?
O who can answer at the throne of God?
The Kings and Nobles of the Land have done it!
Hear it not, Heaven, thy Ministers have done it!

Linkin Park - Waiting For The End
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qF_qbaWt3Q

This is not the end
This is not the beginning,
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violent rhythm
Though the words sound steady
Something empty's within 'em

We say Yeah!
With fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something
That's invisible there,
'Cause we're living at the mercy of
The pain and the fear
Until we dead it, Forget it,
Let it all disappear.

Waiting for the end to come
Wishing I had strength to stand
This is not what I had planned
It's out of my control....

Flying at the speed of light
Thoughts were spinning in my head
So many things were left unsaid
It's hard to let you go...

(Oh!) I know what it takes to move on,
I know how it feels to lie,
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

Sitting in an empty room
Trying to forget the past
This was never meant to last,
I wish it wasn't so...

(Oh!) I know what it takes to move on,

I know how it feels to lie,
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
And trying to figure out what it's like moving on
And i don't even know what kind of things I've said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin?
The hardest part of ending Is starting again!!

All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what i haven't got...

This is not the end
This is not the beginning,
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violet rhythm
Though the words sound steady
Something empty's within 'em
(Holding on to what i haven't got)

We say Yeah!
With fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something
That's invisible there,
'Cause we're living at the mercy of
The pain and the fear
Until we dead it, Forget it,
Let it all disappear
(Holding on to what i haven't got!)

Seether - Fake It
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sep27sMmG-0

Who's to know if your soul will fade at all,
The one you sold to fool the world.
You lost your self esteem along the way.
Yeah.

Good God, You're coming up with reasons.
Good God, You're dragging it out.
Good God, it's the changing of the seasons.
I feel so raped.
SO FOLLOW ME TO HELL.

And just fake it, if you're out of direction.
Fake it, if you don't belong here.
Fake it, if you feel like infection .
Woah, You're such a fuckin' hypocrite.

And you should know that the
lies won't hide your flaws.
No sense in hiding all of yours.
You gave up on your dreams along the way.
Yeah.

Good God, You're coming up with reasons.
Good God, You're dragging it out.
Good God, it's the changing of the seasons.
I feel so raped.
SO FOLLOW ME TO HELL.

And just fake it, if you're out of direction.
Fake it, if you don't belong here.
Fake it, if you feel like infection.
Woah, You're such a fuckin' hypocrite.

Woah, Woah.

I can fake with the best of anyone.
I can fake with the best of 'em all.
I can fake with the best of anyone.
I can fake it all.

Who's to know if your soul will fade at all,
The one you sold to fool the world.
You lost your self esteem along the way.
Yeah.

Good God, You're coming up with reasons.
Good God, You're dragging it out.
Good God, it's the changing of the seasons.
I feel so raped.
MAN FOLLOW ME TO HELL.

And just fake it, if you're out of direction.
Fake it, if you don't belong here.
Fake it, if you feel like infection.
Woah, You're such a fuckin' hypocrite.

Fake it, if you're out of direction.
Fake it, if you don't belong here.
Fake it, if you feel like infection.
Woah, You're such a fuckin' hypocrite.

Stabilo - Everybody
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dyAur6Nspo

doesn't anybody know how to walk anymore?
doesn't anybody know what a radio is for ?
doesn't anybody wear their hair down low ?
doesn't anybody know? doesn't anybody know?

doesn't anybody hate it when the street light.. turns red?
doesn't anybody want five more minutes in bed ?
doesn't anybody, doesn’t anybody have a letter to send ?
doesn't anybody wish they had just one more friend ?

cause everybody wants, and everybody needs
everybody asks for one more piece
everybody wants to hear someone say please
cause everybody takes, and everybody steals
everybody cries when something feels
everybody's looking for the drug that heals

doesn't anybody wanna take another shot at me ?
go ahead the gun is loaded and the bullets are for free
doesn't anybody spray perfume to cover up a smell ?
doesn't anybody know where I go to get some help?

cause everybody wants, and everybody needs,
everybody begs for self esteem
why don't you get your mind out of the past
and everybody takes and everybody steals,
everybody's been kicked by other heels

please raise your hands up in the air..

Oh in the air in the air why don't you raise your hands up in the air
why don't you raise your raise your raise your hands up in the air
why don't raise your hands up in the air

cause everybody wants...

doesn't anybody know how to walk anymore?
doesn't anybody know what a radio is for ?
doesn't anybody wear their hair down low ?
doesn't anybody know? doesn’t anybody know?

cause everybody wants

Linkin Park - Crawling
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9OhYro ... ure=relmfu

<!-- start of lyrics -->
[Chorus:]
Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming/confusing
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
Controlling/I can't seem

[Bridge:]
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure

[Chorus]

Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting/reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting how I can't seem...

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]
<!-- end of lyrics -->

Stanley Jordan
electric tap-guitar style
"Over the Rainbow"
Jordan usually uses a nonstandard tuning:
EADGCF (bass to treble)
Cannot tell if he is using it here

Erik Mongrain
acoustic tap-guitar style
"Air-Tap"

After watching Kill Bill Vol. 1 (again), I decided to search YouTube for the "Flight of the Bumblebee" aka "Green Hornet Theme." Found a lot of versions by the venerable Al Hirt, and also ran across this a capella rendition. Warning: Nick Lachey is in this clip, but not to worry - he is merely conducting the singers. The young vocalists look like they are having a blast!

Then you might like this, Cahoot. Looks like what is a college glee club singing "Breathless" (the Coors). At first the audience is a bit noisy, a few giggles, but the singers keep on and end up nailing it.

And bless YouTube, when this comes up, you get tons of links to live Coors clips with the world's cutest drummer.

Well, it’s nice enough for the kids. Good life lessons.
Though I wouldn’t buy a ticket unless they were my kids.

Brings back memories. I saw Chick Corea when I was 17 at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr PA. Stanley Clarke on bass and I want to say Al Di Meola on guitar. It must have been 1974. The Main Point was a tiny place with no liquor license on the Philly Main Line. I remember vividly feeling that the music was lifting me to a new place inside.

I hear ya. Watching it again, I think they really are kids, it's more likely high school than college. But hey - they have gotten a couple hundred thousand hits! That's almost half as many as some of the clips of the Coors versions.

Crazy
Gnarles Barkley
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd2B6SjMh_w

I remember when, I remember
I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space

And when you're out there without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Possibly

And I hope that you are
Having the time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice

Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart
To lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember
Is thinking, I want to be like them

Ever since I was little
Ever since I was little
It looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

But maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably
