Black Widow in my Vacuum

Post by Foresta Gump » Wed Oct 12, 2005 5:09 am

I set up my vacuum cleaner as fast as I could but it still seemed I was moving to slow. Finally, I had the Black Widow death reaper right where I wanted her, with a little moving of the window. I reached the hose close to her and zoom she was up that hose in seconds.

My questions are, could the black widow survive that powerful windstorm inside the hose and be living pregnant inside the vacuum cleaner bag?

And if I turn on my vacuum cleaner will black widow eggs seep through the filter bags and permeate the air?

I know I can easily take the brand new bag out and toss it out with the widow inside, but I don't even want to go near the vacuum cleaner, I'm avoiding it like the plague. I'm afraid the widow will be alive and might jump out and bite me, and that spells death. We have lots of widows here in B.C that live in close proximity to humans.

The bite of a black widow spider initially may go unnoticed, but some people report a short stabbing pain. At first, there may be slight local swelling and two faint red spots, which are puncture points from the fangs. Pain soon begins and usually progresses from the bite site to finally localize in the abdomen and back. Severe cramping or rigidity may occur in the abdominal muscles. Other symptoms may include nausea, profuse perspiration, tremors, labored breathing, restlessness, increased blood pressure, and fever. Symptoms often diminish after a day or so and cease after several days. Serious long-term complications or death are very rare.

Yes, the spider may very well still be alive. Please don't harm the spider if you don't have to.

But don't just throw it out in the trash. (The spider, if alive, could just crawl back out, into your house.) It's best to release it outside somewhere, hopefully somewhere away from your house that has insects.

It might be to late this beastly thing is probably already hurt. Imagine if you were hurled in a huricane, I imagine its much like the same thing for that black widow. I don't bother killing the spiders in here, I let them alone, but a black widow is different.
That widow was on the inside of my window, they are an incredible rapid moving species and they jump.

I don't think there's any way for that thing to crawl out of my vacuum cleaner.

I'm going to get someone to handle this for me and toss the bag out in the alley way maybe let the widow free, I hope its not dead.

You are genuinely that worried about a spider?

My advice is stop worrying about spiders. I have had many spiders in my house and I never worry about them. Neither myself nor either of my kids have ever had a spider bite. I have seen Black Widows in my house and other spiders.

Just not a big deal.

Certainly, if you sucked the thing up in the vacuum, you have no worries.

I would probably be alarmed if I had a rattle snake in my house. Even then, my daughter -- Elly May Faizi -- would probably take care of it. She is good with critters.

You have got to be kidding. You are going to get someone else to handle this for you? Throw the fucking bag in the garbage and forget about it.

Damn.

I know its just a spider, and normally I leave them alone.

Thanks for writing, I just needed people to tell me the thing wouldn't bother me, I'm ok with it now, the thing is in the vacuum so I'm ok, I feel a little bit idiotic, for mentioning it. I visualized the black widow crawling down from its web and landing right on my face while I sleep. Ahhhggggh!

Jamesh,

Welcome to the Brothel. They don't delete such things. They just throw it down here in the basement.

Yes, it is dead now. For quite some time, I did keep it going somewhat -- myself and a few others.

I stopped when I realized the stuff up above is about as stupid as what goes on down here.
