Saving draft problems

Post by Carmel » Tue Jan 19, 2010 5:20 am

On 3 occasions, I've had problems saving drafts. When I hit the "save" button, the screen defaults to the login page and displays a message that says "You must be logged in in order to edit drafts" (or something to that effect) then my post disappears. Obviously, I'm already logged in if I'm typing a draft, so I'm not sure what the problems is.

Twice this happened while using "view/edit", once it happened while trying to save an original draft, but never while using the "load draft" function.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There might be an issue with the PHP. I'll let Kevin know. One thought: don't write long posts online. Always use an external program (like Notepad or whatever) and cut and paste your posts here. That saves a lot of heartache.

Carmel, I've noticed the same complaint over time from other members. A possible cause is described on the board FAQ
Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you login, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university computer lab, etc. If you do not see this checkbox, it means the board administrator has disabled this feature.
This checkbox only works if your browser accepts the so-called "cookie". Sometimes security settings of the browser or other installed software reject it. In Firefox you could go to the settings, under Privacy, you have to have enables "accept cookies from sites" and you could check the Exceptions and Show Cookies sections too to see what's happening.

Other browser brands have similar configuration screens.
