What Makes You a Winner?

Post by mensa-maniac » Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:48 am

What Makes You a Winner?

First of all, what is a loser?

Simply put a loser is one who loses constantly, therefore he is a winner because he is consistent and good at losing.

What Makes You a Winner?

I know why I am a Winner but do you know why you are a Winner?

I want with your participation to know why You are a Winner, then I will baffle you with my brilliance or dazzle you with my bullshit as to why I am a Winner.

If a loser plans to remain a loser throughout because it makes him happy then he is a winner .

fail
What if a loser plans to remain a loser throughout because it makes him happy, and fails every time?

Losers are people who play games to win.

a loser dosn't care about anyone
a loser enjoys seeing people suffer
a loser has no remorse abusing others
a loser has no morals

a winner is the opposite of a loser

so far i've been a winner
except for the days when i was loose

I want to do business with YOU! Though, I know you probably mean this only regarding the personal, strictly rational plane. There's no game-playing in logic and awareness! When all that is sorted to your satisfaction, it is extremely important NOT to stay dissociated from the world, because the world is not set up to be fair with you. What you value will be set against the world and the vested interests of other people and their own values, whether you like it or not. You can only turn the cheek only so many times before you completely lose your soul. Understand the fundamentals and make damn sure you know what you're talking about, then fight, and fight to win. And I do mean FUCKING WIN MAN!!!!

Well let me speak of an actual example:

I sometimes play Rock Band (rhythym game) and I do pretty well at it, but when I am playing online against other people (which I enjoy doing most), I don't care if I win or not. If i repreatedly lose against the same opponent I will continue to play the same opponent. At the same time, I never try to lose. I just play the game for the sake of playing, not to win or lose. same with most of life.

Also, I frequently engage in what is sometimes called "Epic Fail Hour" around my residence. The notion is that I or my company play games on difficulty settings that are beyond our capabilities. For example playing a song by Ingwie Malmsteen on expert guitar or singing Queen on expert. Failure is imminent, but this is also where I make the most improvement on my game. Once in a while I will beat one of these impossible songs.

One of the best bands I'd ever seen/heard. Rest in peace, Freddie.

Anyway that's my general modus operendi. A while back I decided to write a modification for the then popular game Half-Life. I called my mod HLFX and originally based it in AdminMod. I started out with absolutely no programming experience and was told by people in the AdminMod community that I couldn't do what I wanted to do with the code. So I found a way to create my own Dynamic Link Library and link it to the game. The end result was a neat little mod that allowed server administrators a little extra control over players. For one thing they could set a timebomb ticking on a player. A countdown would be announced to all other players that 'such and such' was a ticking timebomb, when the counter reached 0 the player would explode causing a radius damage effect to all other players and causing their screens to shake proportionate to their distance from the target. All of this required a lot of time and determination and in the face of certain failure. Needless to say I had many such failed attempts to get the code working. For me it was never really about making a cool mod, it was about the development experience, putting myself in the shoes of a game developer and learning C++. The fact that I managed to make it work in the end was just gravy. Afterwards I quit playing the game and supporting the mod, I took down my website where the mod was hosted, deleted all the source files and now the mod no longer exists. Someone else had hosted a mirror of the install file for a few years but its dead now too.

Also, I recently began considering writing a java-based neural network, so I spent 4 hours last night studying an eBook on developing Neural Networks in Java. It seems pretty straightforward if I can get my head around the logic of converting a matrix into a series of for loops. The trick is really that its a synthetic-artificial matrix that acts as a neural network and requires a series of classes to do so.

This is the site: http://www.jeffheaton.com/ai/

What I want to do is create independent modules for handling various input-output channels on my home PC and create an Identity matrix that acts as a self-model for the system organizing the recognized patterns of the other modules and integrating them into a Self-Other world model.

The thing is, I'm not very good at maths or programming, so its not likely to ever become a reality. Still I feel compelled to plug away at it, even just for the sake of learning something (i don't know what exactly).

You are considering emulating biological neural circuit network behavior in to a software environment? Program General AI?
That's all we need right now... brains on cds. Keep it to yourself or share it with everyone.

I frequently used to play against Halflife CS online 'aimbots' and enjoy testing their capabilities. The aimbots had x-ray vision, scent trails, distance counter, edge enhancement, etc. yet the main failing they had was the predictability of the controlling intelligence behind the technology. :-/

Its an idea I'm toying around with. I was learning how to construct a Hopfield network to recognize patterns of digits (e.g. 0101), still a long way from a self-conscious entity!

If I create what I want to create it'll end up consuming the internet lol
I want a system that has an Ego and is self-interested in expansion and control. It should fiddle with all of its output channels to try to manipulate its environment and see if it can't extend its influence further. Like I say, this is not likely to ever become a reality, I'll be lucky to get it to recognize 0101.

That's because they're tired of losing so they work at winning!

You can't win if you don't try either!

Trying Is Winning

Dedicated to all who try and keep trying

Send in your poetry give it a try
You may even win she said with a sigh
Nahhh, I said, my words are not big
Just continue she said and further your dig

Big words or little words conveys a message too
To try is to win, so let your words flow through
But if you try and don't win the loot
You've really won because your arse you boot

You've really won because you've tried
Procrastinators have often cried
And left things, undone too late
Winners who try, don't cry they state

And if you're a loser, it's in your own mind
You can try too, and a winner you'll find
Inside of you, is the leader you choose
Keep on trying, and rid the loose

Trying is winning, to try is to win
If you don't succeed you begin again
Again and again and again and again
You never quit trying, that is too win

In choosing a title it was easy to decide
Try, and try again, are words to abide
So use these words for future endeavor
Try, and try again, are words so clever!

i'm a winner because:

i work well with others
i won employee of the month twice in a row
i can tie my shoes with two fingers only
i play to win
'it's gym' is a shitty excuse for not giving 110% all the time
because everyone tells me i'm a hero during sports

Should anyone over the age of 25 who plays with a Playstation, or a plastic guitar with coloured buttons not be lined up and shot (with a plastic gun if you like)?
