Discussion of the nature of Ultimate Reality and the path to Enlightenment

Ha, yea, the poems are a bit like Koans I think. I've had some back and forth with Anonymous... his message is pretty straightforward. Its fairly conducive to Gautama's teachings, but wrapped in the Biblical riddle. I could be wrong, but its definitely not your average Christian prose.Dan Rowden wrote:It's a bit hard to really work out what this guy is on about. And well, poetry sucks.
Yeah, and it sucked :)Shahrazad wrote:Dan, what do you mean poetry sucks? You used to write it yourself.
I think the judgements haven't been too far wide of the mark. I did ask if his poetic declarations echoed the Jesus of the Gospel of Thomas and he seemed to agree it did. I get a sort of theosophical vibe from him. If that's all he's got it won't capture my interest.Animus wrote:lol, a fairly judgemental group it seems to me. It's fun to categorize isn't it.
True enough. I'm open to all expressions whether they are clear or theosophical. For one thing, versing myself in the Bible grants me the tools to change minds that are already consumed by Biblical terminology. I think Neil deGrasse Tyson put it well to Richard Dawkins at Beyond Belief '06, its the combination of knowledge and a respect for the mental state of other people that affects change. With barbed approaches like Dawkins we only serve to divide and conquer, perhaps a better term would be "barbarous" approach. Not that I am one to talk, lol, I've been removed from many online communities.... but I'm working on it!Dan Rowden wrote:I think the judgements haven't been too far wide of the mark. no doubt! with so many perceptual veils to look through, who needs poetry!!Animus wrote:lol, a fairly judgemental group it seems to me. It's fun to categorize isn't it.
It's a game, no?Animus wrote:I'm not a poet and I know it
I'll write this piece to show it
I'm a thinker, with thoughts I tinker
And that's why this line doesn't quite rhyme.
Is that too sublime for the mind of the rind of the flesh, what a mess.
I'm not averse to verse on the girth-y purse of the men of earth who circumvent human worth through the lens of "self-first".
What's bad is fascinating. And self-correcting.Animus wrote:Only

I kept picking at that scab
It was a doorway trying to seal itself shut
But I climbed through
