No brain scans in released Biden medical

-snip-

But the 49 pages of records the campaign released gave no indication that Biden's doctors sought follow-up tests...

"If this was my patient, I would re-image every three to five years to make sure no new aneurysm had cropped up," said Dr. Mark Alberts, a professor of neurology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Tomas,
Oh, my! It's horrible! All those years on a Navy carrier, soaking up those deadly, sunshine rays! Geez McCain, didn't you know better than to serve your country? You shouldda got a law degree like Biden (five Draft deferments) and schmoozed your way to the top!
Yes, they're mostly draft dodgers, as any sane person would be. One of the reasons I don't like McCain is that he likes war, wants war, and wants to be president in a time of war, and speaks of weird shit like "winning."
Why in hell is Biden's son in Iraq? That's what I want to know.

For your information, I have not voted for either a Demican or a Republocrat in 20 years. It was a wrench of my conscience to not throw away yet another vote for the sake of principle. I felt I had to.

May be Obama is their cousin, maybe he is also in the skull and bones. Nonetheless, the difference between the two seems clear. One can always hope he's a trojan horse.

Biden continues to deliver ... just not for the right side

God love ya, Joe. Thanks for pointing out Obama's inexperience for us

In a stunning statement, Biden acknowledged that Obama's lack of foreign-policy experience will provoke America's enemies into creating an international crisis. Biden apparently thinks this is just terrific:
"Mark my words, Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

Even worse, Biden admits that an Obama administration will likely fumble the ball. "It's not going to be apparent that we're right."

-tomas-
It's in his blood. Just like Obama wants a couple more divisions (30-40,000) soldiers in Afghanistan. The troops over there are nothing more than mere pieces of plastic, toy soldiers, if you would pardon the non-intended disrespectful pun..

-Anna-
Why in hell is Biden's son in Iraq? That's what I want to know.

-tomas-
I suppose he's thinking that It'll look good on any future resume for higher public office.

Or, (most) man-boys are a different sort of people - just that they want adventure that their squalid home life doesn't provide.

Or, he's in the Guard/Reserves and his unit was called up..?

-Anna-
For your information, I have not voted for either a Demican or a Republocrat in 20 years. It was a wrench of my conscience to not throw away yet another vote for the sake of principle. I felt I had to.

It's a waste of time for president. The action is at the state/local level. That's where it most directly affects us commoners.

May be Obama is their cousin, maybe he is also in the skull and bones. Nonetheless, the difference between the two seems clear. One can always hope he's a trojan horse.

Alpha males/females start the "whisper" at the top and it trickles down to us peasants. Keep in mind those at the top are only semi-literate peasants :-)

-tomas-
No, no! Larry Flint of Husler Magazine/Jerry Falwell debates...

He has an "actress" who is a lookalike for Sarah Palin, I mean the hard-core porn... probably filming as we speak, if McCain/Palin "win" Larry Flint will rake in the cash...

The late night comedy writers will have a field day with her. Tina Fey said she'd bow out (whether Palin wins or not), she probably has already been typecast by this and she doesn't want her career to suffer. Isn't she on some other show?

We don't have a tv in Cali, we have each other and our 10-year-old to keep us busy. The other six are grown up and have moved on...

I'm still in Dakota helping out on friends/relatives farms and they all have satellite tv :-(

So, I'm stuck sitting around till bedtime nodding off with them in front of the idiot box :-|

Since the sun is setting earlier, not much to do but hang out with their kids, or eat all the cookies and cake the women bake :-)

PS - I'm not depressed .. just not looking forward to facing the millions of people back in California, it's always a culture shock when returning from elsewhere. Especially from our home state of North Dakota, the peacefulness, serenity, no worries about crime etc...

Farewell,

Tomas

If you can, if you would, I ask you, I include a 'please', for no good reason, you don't even know me of course, you really don't have too, you know this, but if you would, if you could, if you are even registered (and perhaps you aren't), but if you would just consider, or even if you would simply do it for me---for us---as a favor, just once, on this occassion, not that you have to, I'm not begging, but maybe you'd consider it, since it almost doesn't matter to you, it doesn't, does it? to vote for Biden/Obama...

Flip a coin and if on one of the flips it comes up 'heads' promise me you'll vote Biden/Obama.

While Palin threatens class solidarity, Obama is emollient. The more urbane members of the Hyde Park community are cleverer than their Wasilla counterparts and believe that they have captured Obama for their class--just as Richard Stern persuades himself that the still-radical couple he dines with are merely Unitarians in a hurry. But the man who may be president is cleverer still.
Urbane is a pefectly good word, my friend. Thumb your nose all you want.

It seems Palin is not that "uniquely American brand of feminist" after all. Just the usual:

RNC shells out $150K for Palin fashion.
According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.

The cash expenditures immediately raised questions among campaign finance experts about their legality under the Federal Election Commission's long-standing advisory opinions on using campaign cash to purchase items for personal use.
And keep in mind the Republican campaign is publicly funded as opposed to Obama's. So it's tax-payers money paying for it...

Yup, just the ordinary, average, pig on a lipstick middle-aged, over-the-hill female dog..

Lemme guess - the non-partisan ones?

about their legality under the Federal Election Commission's long-standing advisory opinions

-tomas-
Oh, so that's why I "checked" the $2-3 box on my income tax form .. doesn't cover it all but that's deficit spending for ya (good thing the Democrats control House/Senate) otherwise we'd be hearing howls of derision..

So much for the 90-day return policy..

-Diebert the foreign influencer says-
And keep in mind the Republican campaign is publicly funded as opposed to Obama's.

-tomas-
True, the one "big mistake" McCain made .. scroll back and you'll discover it was Obama who first called for "public-financing" but pulled a fast one on Hillary.. people were crying for public financing (generally the Democratic side) because the Republicans could always raise more money by way of the nefarious "big business" .. but the shifting political winds go both ways.

-Diebert grins-
So it's tax-payers money paying for it...

I'll tell ya what - Americans are generous with foreign aid:

You can have Sarah's unwashed panties, the hair extensions will go to Shah, the maternity bra's will go to Anna, the pantsuits to Aunt Brokie, the blouses to Elizabeth, and best of all .. Alex (the man-boy in drag) can have the pumps, lipstick accessories, perfumes .. he'll post YouTube videos of himself on Genius Forums... fabulous!

PS - When you all are done with everything send it all to Ryan, he'll need it on his $5.55 a day sojourn through the back alleys when rummaging through your trash bins - he'll sell it on Ebay .. leave your house key under the doormat, you won't even know he's taking a shower or rummaging your refrigerator for your half-eaten TV dinners .. your teenage daughters are safe, he claims to be celibate.

I don't want hair extensions, but I'd like one of the evening gowns from Saks, for when I'm invited to a fund-raiser political party, or the crowning of Balbina in July of next year, Panama's second female Prez.

PS - The GOP came out this morning and announced that Palin's "wardrobe" and accessories (sorry Alex and Ryan) will go to charity auction.. where, I'm guessing, go for a heckuva lot more than $150K..

If Alex still craves the spiked heels etc., perhaps he can sell his house in Panama and start the bidding off :-/

For the record, and speaking in general, I think it fair and 'non-partisan' to say that there really is no stupidity quite like the American stupidity. Almost anyone who achieves almost anything in Latin America, for example, has a sort of natural smarts---you have to, otherwise you get eaten alive and of course you end up achieving nothing and with nothing. Take for example Mexicans, from Mexico City. Holy shit is there some well prepared, extremely well-educated people in that city. You see people, average people, on the metro reading 'real literature'. What is talked about on an average newscast, and the depth of commentary, would almost never even be approached in the US except in some super-elite setting, some weird PBS program. Average people attending a state university (La Universidad Autonoma for example), in average classes, literally have about 10 times the basic smarts (a question of will, not genetics) and 10 times the general comprehension of the average analogous American student. You can actually converse with them, they actually have things to say, opinions, ideas. It is sad to say but on the average, in average university settings, you feel you are talking with a giant child, and do they ever master (0or even approach mastery) of a foreign language? Hardly ever. This 'urbanity' that is needed must also be a sort of international cosmopolitanism, a familiarity with other cultures, other ways of approaching knowledge, also international connections, friends on other places.

With America---speaking of the dreaded 'average American'---you have to take into account well-known and well-documented 'American anti-intellectualism'. These brutes of which I am speaking, these giant infants raised on TeeVee and with 100 solid years of shameless propaganda and social engineering, have a deep-seated contempt for the 'intellectual' and just don't know how to relate to anyone who speaks 'intellectually' to them. What passes for 'intellectual' in many universities is nothing even close to intellectualism.

I know a young guy, Jaer, just completing his senior thesis, who studied philosophy at the La Universidad del Valle in Cali (Colombia), whose breadth of thinking is I would estimate about 30 times that of so many university educated Americans that I know. I really don't make these sorts of 'cruel comparisons', I accept people as they are, but when I think about it at times I really wonder how people (Americans) with all the same equipment---and they are my friends, people I've known for years who are sweet and good people---are ignoramuses.

To be president in the US, you have almost got to act DUMB, and you can never appear to be intellectual, which is a shame, a real shame. I think that Obama has these kind of smarts, but he will have to let it show in a very controlled way, and he will have to be 'handled' to make sure he doesn't offend or humiliate the constituency.

One more example---Subcomandante Marcos of Mexico. Even if you don't like his politics, the guy is extremely intelligent, extremely well-read, extremely up-to-the-minute. It is a weird thought to think but can you just imagine someone in America with those ideas, with that intellect, who would capture the imagination of a whole segment of the country? Well of course you can't, because it could never, ever happen! It is literally an impossibility.

No shit, Alex.

Notice the way Tomas immediately insinuated that I am some Ivy-League snob (Palin "threatens class solidarity") because I suggested a President should be urbane, with the definition that I supplied. This is typical American dumb-it-down knee-jerk anti-intellectualism in a pure and simple form.

Americans speak a foreign language? You must be joking! Many Americans cannot speak US English, which is a slow cousin of British English, as I'm sure you know. I hear more and more white kids today saying "Yo, I axed you a question!"

People just do not read anymore, and that's a fact. I read more literature in high school (Joe Biden's alma mater) than most people read at university. I do a nonfiction book a week, or three novels, and I consider myself a slow reader. I usually have a few going at once. Why? It's not that I am smarter than other people, I simply do not waste time watching TV. When I don't understand something, I find out about it. When you watch TV, your mind goes into alpha-wave state.

This country has a soft, white underbelly. Just try to talk politics or history with somebody, and you are likely to get "talk to the hand." I once went out on a date with a woman who asked me out. Apparently, I was supposed to spend the evening talking about her. I made the mistake of getting into recent European history, and her reply was "Who are you to be saying this? I mean, what do you do?" I felt like smacking her Perrier off the table and saying, "You stupid cunt! What do I do? I fucking read, that's what I do! I think." People like that piss me off royally. They are such muddle-headed boot-lickers who are afraid to have an idea for themselves. It's like this timid broad who asked me in the gym one day how a certain piece of equipment was used. When I showed her, she said, "How do I know you're not using it wrong?" You miserable little twat! Then why the hell did you fucking ask me if you're not going to listen?

This is what frightens me about America. As soon as it threatens to become great, its provincialism shows through and ruins everything. People don't know who to listen to, so they listen to everybody and stop thinking for themselves.

Here's a perfect example. A few years ago, NYC contracted with a firm that makes the automated public toilets. Anyone who has lived there knows you do a lot of walking and often have nowhere to defecate or take a leak. For a quarter, you could go into one of these convenient stalls, do your thing, and it would then flush and wash itself down. The cost was kept down by renting ad space inside. But the plan never panned out. Why? Because you can't make a public accommodation unless it is handicapped-accessible. Which means the booths had to be bigger, which led to people screwing in them or shooting up. So instead of most of the people benefiting, nobody does.

It's like when a parking lot is full except for the handicap spaces, you will still get a ticket if you park in one. It's happened to me. It's like because you are handicapped, you have more of a right to patronize that particular business. The logic escapes me.

In America, everything is PCed into meaninglessness. It's survival of the fattest.

This is how the ACLU, Fox News, Jerry Springer and Rikki Lake have made sure society will never make strides, because we are reduced to our lowest common denominator.

I know this is not precisely what you were talking about, bubeleh, but I can't walk out my door without wondering why I bothered to get an education.

I like it!

TV is it, more than anything.

My mother decided to not get one.

We read.

When I was 15, the entire family of seven read "The Primal Scream" and talked about it for a couple of years.

When I was about 10, my Dad started this thing where he would take one or two kids out for long walks, and talk. We talked about absolutely everything under the sun. We had limitless quality time as teenagers.

I have long thought that American teenagers are neglected.

Whatever did you talk about for 2 years?!? ;-)

Did you ever hear the record of John & Yoko's primal scream?

I really do think that all people would be so much better off if they'd jettison the TeeVee, assemble the home library, read and talk together.

As Chomsky says, language is our defining possession, what makes us human, what makes humanness possible. If people stop working with ideas, allowing ideas to work in them, a whole inner, invisible creation just collapses like souffle.

Palin Once Farted In Public (see photo)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - GOP vice presidential hopeful and Alaska governor Sarah Palin once farted in public, sources reveal. An exhaustive 30 day, $400,000 investigation has revealed that there is compelling evidence to warrant further investigation into the allegation.

"This could be the 'smoking gun' (or smoking colon) we've been looking for, Obama spokesman and disciple St. Bill Burton explained. The incident happened at the "Thrilla in Wasilla" chili cook off. Palin, then mayor of Wasilla, was dining with an unsuspecting crowd which included children and minorities. "This had to be a deliberate act," said unofficial Obama spokesman and disciple St. Puff Diddy. "Cause there ain't no niggas IN Alaska! She done brought 'em in to gas 'em."

According to witnesses (survivors), the evil mayor was enjoying a bowl of chili when suddenly there was a...

Yup'ik ties give Palin unique Alaska connection

Yup'ik ties give Palin unique Alaska connection

-snip-

HOMER, Alaska - Like many Alaska natives of her generation, Lena Andree, Todd Palin's 87-year-old grandmother, grew up living between two worlds.

Her father was a Dutchman, Glass Eye Billy Bartman, a sled dog freighter in the Bristol Bay region and caretaker of the Alaska Packers saltry on the Igushik River.

Her mother was full-blooded Yup'ik, growing up in a sod-roofed barabara in the now-abandoned village of Tuklung, somewhere on the tundra between Dillingham and Togiak.

Yet the Heath family story is a familiar one in Alaska, a pioneer narrative. Her father was a schoolteacher who loved to hunt and fish. They moved to Alaska when Sarah was a newborn.

The musher, who had come to Alaska after leaving Holland at 14 as a cabin boy, saw a young woman dipping water from a frozen creek. The first thing he noticed about her was her fur boots and gorgeous white parka made from the supple fur of reindeer fawn.

The courtship and marriage arrangements took a year.

An Instructive Candidacy (What Sarah Palin taught us about ourselves)

We have come to understand that - for a TV anchorwoman, op-ed columnist, or professor - it would be a nightmare to birth a Down Syndrome child in her mid-forties, or to have had her pregnant unwed teen daughter actually deliver her baby. In the world outside Sarah Palin's Wasilla, there are career-ending blunders that abort the next job promotion or book tour- or the future career of a prepped young daughter on her way to the Ivy League.
