Locked?!?

Post by pen15 » Sat Sep 01, 2007 10:52 pm

WOW! Dan Rowden is drunk with power. Or should I say, Dan Rowden wishes he had real power, so he is going around and haphazardly locking topics just to get a reaction. Have you ever heard of taking yourself a little too seriously? LOL Danny boy, Get a life, loser.

Your posts are little better than trolling and spam. I'd be happy that you still have an active account if I were you.

I'm surprised that they are better at all. They're meant to be less than that.

Yes, I am an insincere person. I find you cannot get by any other way. If I was constantly "all out there," then I would have no defense to protect me from the cruel world in which we all live. Also, I could not respect myself if I chose not to hide my true emotions. Lying is an important tool to help me lead the lifestyle I am happy with.

In terms of self respect, what's the difference between having those emotions at all and expressing them? i.e. I don't quite get why having them is ok so long as you don't express them. How does that work? What sort of emotions?

It depends on the situation. On one hand, you want to represent yourself in a certain way. On the other, you want to be respected for who you are. You have to walk a fine line in order to end up where you want to be. I think it boils down to something deeper than whether or not you are lying about this or that. What's the difference between a big lie and a little lie, well, a lot of little lies will add up to a big one, so why not just go ahead and say that all lies are acceptable? I think all lies are acceptable, I just wouldn't want to get caught in too many of them. Also, little lies can be just as bad as big ones.

I can understand behavioural modification based on the desire to be respected by others. That's pretty normal. But why do you want to be respected by others?

Well, I suppose most people would be okay without being respected if they could still achieve the results they were looking for in life. However, the reality is that you need to be generally respected to achieve certain things in life, given the makeup of society. The original question was about lying. My personal opinion is that words are pretty shallow in many circumstances, so if you "lie" it doesn't really matter in the big picture. Just about everything that is superficial is a lie, and just about everything in public life is superficial, so whether or not you literally "lie" is pretty much irrelevant. Now I'm mincing words, but we weren't getting into anything deep in the first place.
