Eating and procreation, and complex dramas celebrating or rejecting either or both.

*

Many pop songs reveal the quest or celebration of union as one, the quest for non-duality, when heard as the singer singing to God (or a personification of oneness) rather than as a desire to possess a particular individual; though the songs can also be interpreted as dramas surrounding procreation. Life is kinda like that too, in the sense that all is said to "God," and all is heard from "God."

In this sense, as Stevie says through Tammi, in the spiritual hunt all desires coalesce into one big desire. And although the song stops there, the energy of that one big desire may persist to alchemize into awareness that intensifies appreciation and ends attachment ... ever new and present.

Same song, male version/energy. Tighter, harder syncopated rhythms, less plaintive.

Modest Mouse - We've Got Everything

We've got everything
We've got everything
We've got everything down to a science so I guess we know everything
We know everything
We know everything
We know everything was built to expire so I guess we've done everything
If we carried it out to sea
Pushed it over the edge we'd have all been through,
Well first off Gary got drunk fell asleep in his car til about noon
Flat Top Tony got all messed up split his lip chasing cheap perfume
Well look at our boat in the bay it looks like some sad ass little canoe
We've done everything
We've done everything
We've done everything like trial by fire so I guess we'll stop trying now
We've tried everything
We've tried everything
We've tried everything half assed and as liars and thats how we've got everything
If we carried it out to sea pushed it over the edge we could have all been through
Well no one even bothered showin' up but we still did what we should have thought through
We crashed in like waves into the stars Didn't want it didn't need it but we knew that we
Could see it so we opened up the door
We receded like waves out of the stars
Didn't want it didn't need it but we knew that we could steal it left it dying on the
Floor
We've got everything
We've got everything
We've got everything down to a science so I guess we know everything
We've got everything
We've done everything
We've tried everything
We've got everything
We've got everything

Syntax - Pride

its made up of lonely moments
there was always a moment there when i knew
you always gave instalments
always knew u concentrated and grew

and i believe in reinvention
do you believe that life is holding the clue
take away all the lonely moments
give me full communication with you

your smile shine a little light, alright
dont hide, shine a little light
give up on your pride

do you believe in reinvention
do you believe thar life is holding the clue
any way to face the silence
any way to face the pain that kills you

your smile shine a little light, alright
dont hide, shine a little light
give up on your pride

give up on your pride, the moment's gone
give up on your smile, life is long
so i seen a bad dream, that you were gone
i got bitten on the soul, my blood will run

give up on your pride, the moment's gone
give up on your smile, life is long
so i seen i bad dream, you were gone
you're bitter and cold, my blood will run

Leonard Cohen - Everybody Knows

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows

Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows

And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows

And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
To the beach of Malibu
Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows

Roger Whittaker - Why

Somethings going wrong
With the singer and the song
And the music isn't gentle anymore
There's a mist across the moon
And the sun's too hot at noon
And the house is dark behind the broken door
Where the flowers used to grow
With their leaves are hanging low
And the constant shadow lies across the floor
There's a strange and empty sky
Where the wild birds used to fly
And I never tasted bitter rain before

And will the grass be gone from underneath the
sky
Will the golden flower wither soon and die
Will the fire burn out the land
And the sea fill-up with sand
Will the last word ever spoken be why?
Will the last word ever spoken be why?

Someone's lost the plan
For the brotherhood of man
And no one's trying to find it anymore
And the winds become a sigh
For those who hate and those who die
And the waves are black and slow along the
shore

And will the grass be gone from underneath the
sky
Will the golden flower wither soon and die
Will the fire burn out the land
And the sea fill-up with sand
Will the last word ever spoken be why?
Will the last word ever spoken be why, why,
why?
Will the last word ever spoken be WHY?

Autamata - Out of This

I will confront you at last you dreaded empty
When I met you in others I fell in love
From the cradle, to the bottle, to the needle to the bed
We all need something to deliver us from dread

But I believe in truth

Out of this noise, here comes the stillness
Out of this chaos, here comes the order
Out of this language, out of this language
Out of these words

And a hollow man leaves you empty-handed
With fingers carved from Asian ivory
From the cradle, to the treadmill, to the rocker, to the last sigh
Some are made happy when something dies

Out of this noise, here comes the stillness
Out of this chaos, here comes the order
Out of this language, out of this language
Out of these words

Shitsujo, seijaku, shinjitsu
Shitsujo, seijaku, shinjitsu, shinjitsu

Out of patience, out of deed
Out of courage, out of me
Out of reason, out of truth
Out of conscience, out of you

Konran kara shitsujo ga umare
Soon kara seijaku ga umareru
Shinjitsu wa ai o umu

Out of this...

Steve Conte - Living Inside the Shell (Ghost In The Shell Stand-Alone Complex 2nd GIG Sountrack)

Roaming inbetween the worlds of sleep and awake
Seems so far away from where I've been and untrue but unafraid
Intrusting -- my soul -- I know I must be taken to see the world that is
Not so far from now
Imaginations come and sweep the shores of my mind
Letting it be, visions pass, and emotions arise--
Letting them go, and beyond are doors I've never seen, opening one by one
(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
Look inside, see the light now ever holding you
All the truth is all you need to make of your reality, its right here
Look deep within your shell
Finding out a galaxy of planets and stars within me
Listening to each of them singing the same silent melody
I've never seen such beauty in possibility -- no speck of doubt or fear
(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
I see inside, see the light now ever holding me
All the truth, all I need to make of this reality it's -- beauty within the shell
(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
I see inside, see the light now ever holding me
All the truth, all I need to make of this reality, it's inside
Right here within this shell
The sandglass starts for another time's beginning from within
Cotton fields, mama's arms are gently unfolding me into the new...
(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
[Reading]
Here from behind my sight, my thoughts my mind
Show from the light
The time is right
And from the depth within show the balance
Of outer and inner harmony
Mind and heart, soul and spirit undivided
Here's where teh true strength and beauty lies
We'll see this before us with our own eyes
We'll see, with our own eyes... LOVE
(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
I see inside, see the light now ever holding me
All the truth, all I need to make of this reality it's -- beauty within the shell

As a multi-media experience, the beats begin kicking in at 4:40. Sounds prior to that set the mood.

Tuck & Patti doing Time After Time. A nice live version from this long-time husband and wife team - unfortunately gets cut off abruptly. Looking for a better live version. Tuck Andress is a SF-based virtuoso who finds ways to create multi-layered arrangements for the guitar to create the feel that more than one instrument is playing. Together they make much music "that moves."
