Entertaining. Thank you. One of the most articulate counter arguments to the anti-stem cell research and pro-Iraq conflict views I've seen in a while. Enjoyed the humour.
The conservative "Pro-life" here in the U.S. to not see hypocrisy in the supporting of an instigated armed conflict and meanwhile refusing to accept scientific research that would benefit human life certainly qualifies as blind faith.
The collateral damage in the loss of tens-of-thousands of Iraqi civilian lives is often quickly justified. The loss of one embryonic life, however, is not an incidental event in the war against disease. It is simply deemed murder.
The underlying medical intent for stem cell research is of course to maintain or improve quality of life or prolong human life. Each viable embryonic stem cell whether plueri, multi or totipotent has the accepted potential to save multiple lives. Yet, this isn't considered "Pro-life". I admit my failure in understanding this "logic".
Stem cells/embryos are destroyed daily due to non-viability, surplus or donor's wish. Little is mentioned of this routine and generally accepted "murder". The relatively few right wing members that take the time to address this issue often justify it as being a "more natural" death. Being dumped in a bio-hazardous bag awaiting eventual incineration is more natural than growing inside a human body?
best,
