Insight into the minds of mujahadeen

Post by sschaula » Thu Aug 17, 2006 2:25 am

I've enjoyed watching these video interviews the past couple of days. There are more to come day by day. It's Jill Carroll telling her own story about what happened when she was kidnapped in Baghdad.

I like it because you get an inside view of what some terrorists are like. It doesn't make them seem a certain way, like as evil people...the truth is just presented as it was experienced by Jill.

For example, they'd feed her meals that they'd feed a guest in their home. They sympathized with her when she was crying. She was looking nervous and they said to her, "Why do you worry, we are the mujahadeen!"

It's great to see another side of this coin...to see the motivations of the enemy.

I hope you enjoy it.

Nothing enjoyable about it.

Jill Carroll had a lot of Iraqi friends. My guess is that she still has a lot of Iraqi friends.

Scott, rent a movie called Osama. I know this is not about the POWs, but the whole human rights issue is disgusting...and I am not a defined feminist but for equal human rights and dignity for all.

What angered me the most about this movie is that because men get "turned on" when women expose even the smallest amount of flesh, the women are called on the carpet, as well as the men who are "responsible" for them.

I know this is true because my mother had a friend whose daughter lived in Saudia Arabia with her husband who was in the military. She went to visit her daughter and her covering accidentally flew away from her face revealing her blonde hair. A Saudi was driving by in his Mercedes, stopped dead in the middle of the street to get out and chastise her for what she had done, which was an accident of nature - like the wind is her fault.

If men cannot control themselves and have so very little self-discipline then it should be them who are punished not the women. Perhaps if they are punished enough, like Pavlov's dog, they will learn to behave like civil people. It is over 100 degrees there at times and the only places that the women can go is places where men are not allowed so that they can actually take all that crap off and be themselves...as much as they can be. And THAT is just day to day living, not being a POW.
