Those who can learn and those who can't

Post by Matt Gregory » Wed Jul 19, 2006 2:04 pm

There's a study about teaching computer programming that I thought was really interesting. It seems that there is a very sharp division between people who "get it" and people who don't. And not only that, for the people who don't get it, no one can figure out how to teach them how to do it, even though they've been trying for 50 years. It seems that the problem is that computer programs are basically a meaningless shuffling of bits and bytes and some people are just unable to create their own meaning and apply it to the program. Well, that's one theory anyway. Here's a link:

I feel that there's some deep psychological insight in that paper, somewhere.

Yeah after high school, I pursued Computer Programming and Webdesign for two years in college but failed miserably...
Althoug I studied programming for so long, I could not put my creativity and minds to programs but that stupuid dumb piece of 10,000$ junkie shit! If using machine was easy as running the washing machine with quarters or bending mashine, I would have been genius in that field.
Now I am changing my major to math or literature...
Some people just can't get it ! true indeed~
