Dave Chappelle

Some of Dave Chappelle's so called comedy approaches genius -- the Clayton Bigsby tapes especially. I also think the CRIB tour is pretty truthful as well as the one about his being the father of Oprah's baby. The Reparations videoes were also guilty of nail hitting, even if preposterous. The man at his best is an ironist.

When he left Comedy Central, it was circulated that he went to South Africa and signed himself into a mental hospital. He supposedly did that at the start of his 2005 season with the network.

I do not believe in conspiracies. But I did read something on the web this evening that made me wonder. I definitely did not believe all that I read and I took it with a huge grain of salt.

However, I do think it is possible that Chappelle did not go into a new season with Comedy Central because he upset some influential African Americans. Chappelle used the word, nigger. He did a parody of "Roots." He played a black white supremist.

The beauty of his portrayals was its backward truthfulness. When he screamed, "WHITE POWER," not only did it make racists look stupid, it made the idea of race as a reason for hate look stupid. It made the idea of race look stupid. It made pretense look stupid. It made pretensious people look stupid.

INTENTIONALLY.

Chappelle is not an uneducated man. He did not grow up in the hoods of Baltimore or LA. I reckon he might be a tad smarter than Bill Cosby's white honky ass.

I do wonder why he has chosen to perform in small venues rather than to go big time. I don't think it was because he was going insane with success or because he used drugs.

I think he was grating on nerves.

If you have never seen him, google Comedy Central.

He is very talented when it comes to seeing the irony and pure stupidity in peoples actions and thoughts.

Why he actually checked into a mental hospital... I pondered that for a while. I started thinking that maybe he started to realize that the ignorance he mocks, is actually ignorance that causes death and destruction through out the world. Maybe he felt like he was making a living off of the suffering of others and it caused him to lose his mind... or extreme guilt?

He denies checking into a mental hospital.

According to the article I read -- the one that I take with a big grain of salt but do not discount entirely -- he decided not to go on with his third season becuase he felt threatened by some elite black entertainers who felt that his humor set back black people fifty years.

I don't know about that but I can kind of imagine Bill Cosby being disgusted with the Bigsby skits and by the use of the word nigger. Oprah, too.

From what I have read now, Chappelle is sticking with working small comedy clubs and stays at this home in Ohio.

His work did ruffle some feathers, I reckon -- but damn -- dude was good.

He said he ran out of material. I think he felt like he was on the top of his game, and the only place to go after that is down...and he didn't want to go down.

I definitely find the idea that he ran out of material to sound like a crock of shit. Dude was not going down for a long time. Had not even reached the peak. Nowhere near.

I only saw about 6 or seven shows on TV, and there was some repetitiveness even in that. Towards the last few shows I saw Of the 30 minute shows the truly new content seemed to become less and less - down to about 10 minutes.

I have watched season one and two in entirity and I saw no repetition.

What's repetition? I am now watching this docu about Bob Dylan and you -- not just you -- are starting to sound like an asshole.

I think you got a problem with niggers. That's my jackoff Frontline PBS drive-by media assessment. "I am in no way shape or form involved in any niggerdom. White Power!!"

You sound just like that. A white supremacist at a Hennessy party. HONKY JACK OFF!! GO DO YOUR COCAINE, HONKY!! Screw your nostrils WIDE.

It's all right, Ma! I'm only nigg'in.

Highway 61 sounds like nigger music to me. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's niggerdom. Jew motherfucker.

Way I see it, Dylan was a righteous nigger. Fuckin disagreeable nigger.

Nigger never ran out of material and he is old as shit. Wrote about a thousand songs.

Was Dylan repetitive?

He was a traitor to folk music. Fuckin nigger. He never did what was expected of him. He had no allegiance. Fuckin nigger.

I think you got a nigger problem, dude, that you need to investigate and understand. In fact, I think you need to go to Nigger Camp. You might be surprised to see just who is a nigger and who is not.

I was also starting to get bored with it. The first season, I watched in full. The second season, I didn't care as much. Now they play "the lost episodes" on Comedy Central, and I don't even care. Personally, I believe he reached his peak.

Well, I am willing to believe that you and Jamesh know better than me even if I seriously doubt that. But since ya'll are in the majority, I will kowtow to ya'll's idiotic judgement.

But I still think ya'll got a problem with niggers.
