Merry Christmas

Six months to Christmas but I ran across this and I hope you all won't mind opening it early. It is old but the same thing still stands.

I loathe the Christmas season. Santa Claus would not allow this bullshit.

Don't it make you want to run out and buy yet another Walmart giftcard for your father in law? What about those diamond earrings your wife has been wanting? Kind of makes you want to go out and buy a bigger SUV. And the kid wants a new dirt bike.

Merry Christmas.

I want a new dirtbike. So?

Killed the dirtbike idea for Buster. I asked him if it made him feel guilty and it did. Nothing like a motherly dose of guilt. Kind of felt bad about laying it on so thick but a mother's got to do what a mother's got to do.

The kid has two guitars and a Lincoln Town Car. Damn. He has a cell phone. He is well dressed. He has the best acne medication. He has an Xbox and Playstation and a good stereo and a computer.

If I had the money, I would buy him the dirtbike. But I don't. I instilled him with guilt instead.

I feel kind of guilty for that but I had no choice. All he wants now is an acoustic guitar, even though he hates playing acoustic.

Guilt retaliation, I reckon.

If he hates playing acoustic, but likes the sound of an acoustic (or needs it for some particular song), there are "acoustic simulator" pedals you can plug in to, to make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dave. I asked Buster. He does not mind playing acoustic. He can play it well. Just does not like the sound.

I can understand that. But I think he needs to expand his mind. There are two young half black brothers who live down on the James River who play hell out of acoustic. Especially the younger one. They live in this little white worn down house across from the river and they sit on the porch and play.

Buster is living with his grandparents in the more affluent part of the county. Kids got everything they want down there. Rich.

It will do him good to see how the other half lives.

If he doesn't like the sound, why would he want one?

Anyway, have you seen Tenacious D? They rock out pretty hard on acoustic.

Because he is a teenager. Also, I reckon it is a way to try to make me feel guilty for not getting him a dirtbike.

I will look At Tenacious D.

Thanks.
