Must be right. That's why so many women are so happy with their mates. That's why they're so loyal to them, and don't fight with them. They do seem to always choose the ones that don't beat them up, and that provide for them....

Nah, I don't agree.

This statement in the article makes the whole thing little more than a joke:
Indeed, studies into female hormones and sex drive say a woman will find a “masculine” face more attractive when she ovulates but switch to a more “feminine” preference during the other phases of her menstrual cycle.
Now it seems even the hormonal whimsy of a woman's choices are to be lauded as a valuable tool. Great.

I have not even gone to the site yet -- I will -- but the premise is a no brainer. If so many women were right in selecting mates, there would not be so much divorce.

I am female. My instincts about men as potential mates have always been extremely wrong. The last man I picked or got picked by killed himself. The next to last one is in prison for felony intent to manufacture and distribute cocaine. The one before that died of lymphoma. The one before that had sickle cell trait. The one before that had systemic lupus of the worst kind. The one before that was arrested for threatening to kill President Nixon. The one who died of lymphoma was questioned by the SS as a possible threat to Bush Daddy.

I like men -- women to you. But I like them from a long distance.

Dan's point is astute - no brainer -- I have never found a feminine face attractive, no matter the stage of ovulation or menstrual cycle.

A strong, beefy, square-jawed man represents the best potential for producing a healthy baby, whereas a caring, friendly, sensitive man represents the best potential for protecting and nurturing the offspring
How ignorant. Many beefy types have produced unhealthy babies. Beefy types can also be the most caring for their offspring. Friendly, sensitive men have often been the type for child abusers and wife abusers.

If females make such shallow judgments in potential fathers, they deserve what they get.

The best solution is the realization that a mate/husband is not needed in order to have a baby. Sperm banks are readily available or you can just screw a bunch of guys and take pot luck -- without pursuing a so called father.

If a woman decides to have a baby, she should be ready to raise it on her own.

Reliance on a man is foolhardy.
