A just punishment.

Post by La Verdad » Tue May 02, 2006 2:44 pm

So there's two siamese twins. One knocks the other unconscious with a blackjack, and then proceeds to murder 5 strangers walking down the street.
Seperating them surgically would cause them both to die. What is the most just way to punish them?

Punishment isn't an issue. Lobotomize the murderous twin.

Let's see. In that case:

You donate all "Blackjack's" available organs to the local hospital.

A good ear, some retinas -- really orge him up.

Though, that'd be punishment for "Jack," too.

The way I see it, this thread concerns a fairly boring legal issue.

That is, If two people share many of the same bodily parts, then how do you punish one without punishing the other?

I'm sure it could be done somehow. But the question is, of what philosophical interest is the whole issue?

P.S. You have a similar problem with normal siblings. If one person is put into jail for twenty years, then the rest of the family are punished (through being deprived of their family member) even though they may not have done anything wrong.

Yes, no lobotomy, one might torture him accidentally and never know. Off with his head instead.

If one conjoined twin knocked the other twin out, no one would give a shit.

Better for the taxpayers.

Send the psycho one to Iraq with the corpse of his twin hanging on. He will fit right in. Like many Iraqis.

No brainer.

DUH.

Them? Only one twin committed the crimes.

Bludgeon them both. One for the crimes and one for being born a freak of nature.

Natural selection. Kind of like miscarriage or abortion.
