The holy robe

Post by Bradley West »

IS BUDDHISM THE WORD OF SIDDHARTHA?

The ‘holy’ robe.

‘Sheep in wolf’s clothing or a wolf in sheep’s clothing’?

Buddhas, holy men, laymen, gods are an integral part of the world of concepts. They are all in the same boat, mere concepts. The way of a seeker is to renunciate this conceptual world he is trapped in and in this endeavor he is on his own. Either he can continue to appease the creator of his elusive world the ‘Chitta’ with the blessings of holy men and their sacred books or face him head-on with sheer determination to conquer him.

According to Buddhism their founder, the ‘Buddha’ is said to have unconditionally endorsed those who became his ‘disciples’ by a simple act of donning a yellow robe as paragons of virtue deserving your veneration and generosity. The weird feature of this endorsement is it encompasses even those disciples of generations to come. But make no mistake it is the ‘sacred’ word of their Buddha and it is to be believed or so they say or face the consequences of being rejected as a heretic and to be scorned. Could anyone with even a basic understanding of the fleeting nature of the ‘Chitta’ the thought process, advance such a proposition? This raises serious questions as to the wisdom of their Buddha who supposed to have seen the past and future lives of beings including that of his own. What man is willing to believe in the name of religions even in this 21st century is extraordinary. Have you the courage of your conviction to come out of this ‘holy and sacred’ wilderness the Buddhism you have been led into by those so-called ‘noble’ disciples of Buddha to seek the ‘Word of Siddhartha’ within?

To a seeker of his Dhamma, his outward appearance is of least
concern to him for he is not an imposter.
