'Kamma is a nonentity in the way of a seeker

IS BUDDHISM THE ‘WORD OF SIDDHARTHA’

‘KAMMA’ A NONENTITY IN THE WAY OF A SEEKER. By Paul Hess

The Dhamma the cosmic law is ‘Dependent Origination’ a process beyond space and time. Whereas ‘Kamma’ an Indian religious belief based on the ‘law of causality’ that occurs in space and time the way the ignorant perceive world is a nonentity in Dhamma. The two are worlds apart, not compatible and cannot co-exist.

However, the ‘Kamma’ being a concept of man is in perfect harmony with all belief systems including Buddhism all of which are based on the principle of ‘Cause and effect’. ‘Kamma’ is action a deed where there is a doer. Whereas ‘Dhamma’ the Dependent Origination is an empty process arising and passing away dependent on conditions a phenomenon where there is neither a doer nor a deed can be found. This also demolishes the belief among some, the ‘Kamma’ is ‘memory’. According to ‘Kamma’ the past and present actions of a so-called ‘being’ influence his future life. A concept rejected by ‘Siddhartha’ as an illusion when he said, “the world is in a state of combustion”. In such a world there are no deeds, no doer of deeds, no cause, no effect, no past, no present, no future. Therefore, ‘Kamma’ is a myth a mirage.
