Why not just forget about the container? The Universe doesn't contain everything, it is everything.

Right, we "is" the Universe.

Just an off-hand comment. So many people who post here are from the 'Star Trek' generation, their minds infiltrated by every Tom, Dick and Harriet idea that is put out there. Other 'worlds' to explore, Deep Space Nine, blah, bla.

Planet Earth "is" it, get used to it. Regardless of Hubble telescope and the International Space Station our vision is limited to the here and now. When, or if, the Sun expands to 'super-size' and gobbles up Earth, well, enjoy the ride!
