The ego believes in and creates reincarnation. Distinguishes between life and death, consciousness and super-consciousness, beyond ego these distinctions disappear. There is either something or nothing, when there's nothing time doesn't exist, when there's something it's impermanent. Suppose the earth did have a meteor hit it and human life was extinguished for a couple hundred thousand years, it would be like the blink of an eye in the whole scheme of things.

As for leaving a mark, the harder goal is leaving no trace.

My ego believes what you say is fundamentally sound.But going beyond ego, I'm not sure my ego knows how to do that, or even wants to.

Thoughts that you've displayed are akin to sentiments I've experience in my more trippier moments though.
