Anyone familiar with his three books and his take on enlightenment / spirituality?
I find his tone quite arrogant and condescending at times but he makes some salient points.

Yup, I've read them, and don't find him all that arrogant or condescending.

I've read all three books.
The thought that he was arrogant or condescending never entered my mind when I was reading. I didn't come across such ideas until I began reading about him in forums and book reviews.
What made you feel this way?
