Please define God. In as much detail as you can. Go.

Does it make sense to you that a thing can be completely one thing, yet be completely another thing (and another, and another etc) at the same time? How do you account for that?

Can you be more specific? It seems like you're asking if I believe something can be two or more things at the same time. I believe that a stapler can be plastic -- and it can be blue -- and it can be heavy -- and it can be broken...

Can a stapler be omniscient, omnipresent, eternal, omnipotent, wholly good, wholly just, and wholly merciful?

No, I'm deadly serious.
Do you believe God is infinite?

Yes or no?

If yes, then how can something be described as having multiple qualities (good, just, merciful) yet be infinite? It's logically impossible. Think about what an infinite stapler would mean.

If no, then your God isn't omniscient, omnipresent, eternal, and omnipotent

Please DESCRIBE how it is logically impossibly for God to be good, just, merciful, while at the same time being eternal?

I don't understand your position.

There may well be a God that's good, just, merciful, while at the same time being eternal. That wouldn't be an omniscient and omnipresent God though.

For something to be omniscient and omnipresent is like saying it's everywhere, everywhen, without end nor beginning, right? Do you agree?

you're simply asserting that it is impossible but you aren't DESCRIBING why

I can't describe anything else until you answer me this;
Is God infinite or finite?

I already told you. He's omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent.

To answer your question more specifically the answer is yes: infinite in space-time, infinite in ability, and infinite in knowledge

Turambar, if you stick around these forums you'll be asked to explain things quite a lot. It's just the nature of the place. When someone starts to speak about God, it's a word that brings with it different meanings to different people. Often these meanings can be contradictory and troublesome to those who seek clarity and coherence in language, logic, reason and philosophical thought.

Whilst on these forums there is no fixed definition of God as such (as far as I know anyway), there is the general comprehension that a decent understanding of a few concepts are key to help think about the nature of existence, reality, God... One of these concepts is the logical understanding of what finite and infinite means.

You say God is "infinite in space-time, infinite in ability, and infinite in knowledge". Tell me, does God exist?

Yes, God exists. Would you please DESCRIBE your assertion from above?

A picture speaks a thousand words (well, a video in this case).

Check this out if you haven't already, it was made by one of the forum founders: God does not exist

About your poor and under-developed conception of "god"? No, not really. You've made it clear you're only here to spread your dogma rather than logically reason about these kind of matters.

Poor and underdeveloped? Why do you think this? How have I shown any inclination to dogmatize or be unreasonable? I was told that my belief was "logically impossible". I asked three times that this assertion be explained and the faulty logic exposed.

Stating that you believe in god has faith based and religious undertones in it which have nothing to do with sound reason and logic. Your overzealous desire to get people to question your concept of god so you can righteously defend it. Your reluctance and inability to define your conception of god in a clear and concise manner when asked to.

Infinity divided by x equals infinity.

God is.

However, this is not a statement of belief or faith.

It is merely a description of phenomena.

The infinite aspect of God can be described as the concept called infinite potentiality.

The particular aspect of God exists as manifestation. Anything that can be apprehended, is a particular manifestation of infinite potentiality.

The appearance of any particular manifestation is linked to conditions. Any particular combination of conditions will produce any particular manifestation, thus making anything possible, given the proper combination of conditions.

The finite mind of man can be one of the conditions that a person, place, or thing requires to be manifested.

The finite mind of man cannot grasp infinite combinations of conditions, thus it cannot apprehend infinite manifestations. Yet it can apprehend that any particular manifestation is infinite, since infinite is indivisible. Infinity divided by x-number of manifestations equals infinity.

So, the question:

Why believe when you can simply know?

God is.
