Some backups of old posts

Post by Kevin Solway » Thu Jun 30, 2005 2:07 pm

Partial backups of the forum, from 2002 and Jan 2004, can be downloaded using the following links.

Note that these backups are partial.

You will need to download all the files then uncompress them using Winrar.

Compressed (downloadable) size: 30Mb
Uncompressed: 130Mb.

Kevin,

Perhaps these can be forwarded to Ezboard in aid of the restoration process of the forum.

Ezboard would have their own special format for posts on their servers, as well as indexes. It would be too much trouble to convert the backups I have.

Similarly with those at the archive service.

I have a considerable portion of the forum saved, but i don't know how to make it available to people.

I have from about midway through the block of threads that was numbered '9' through to the end, which was numbered in the twenties i think. It is 63Mb and occupies 84Mb on the disk. I haven't yet looked at the links offered in this thread so it may be that some or all of it is already available.

I do not have any of the 'archives' section.

The forum went kaput just as i was about to catch-up on the last 8 or so months of dialogue.

If you want to send them to me on CD I can make them available from theabsolute.net, along with the others.

Sure. Just email me your address.

I have the forum set up for viewing 20 posts per page, so when i did the saving and there was more than one page to a thread i numbered them accordingly.

Interestingly, if anyone plans to save the forum in future it should be quicker and easier if the viewing conditions were changed so more posts fitted on one page. I recall this being possible.
