Re: Space.
The extinct species are merely the carapaces of the surviving ones. They weren't shitting, so they had to get off the pot. You cannot argue that because most species that have ever existed are now extinct that life is now somehow less burgeoning than it ever was. In fact, one can argue the opposite - that the species least likely to become extinct are the ones extant today, such as man. And you could argue that because sentience is a recent and highly successful development, that evolution is not blind, but has an overall direction.
Re: Space.
That's your vainglorious DNA spouting off there, sport.
So, yeah, good luck with that.

Re: Space.
Your response lacks substance, sadly. Is it that you cannot respond in a rational manner, or that you merely prefer not to? (Hint: claim that you prefer not to, it helps save face.)prince wrote:That's your vainglorious DNA spouting off there, sport.

I responded rationally, but what I insinuated is currently beyond your grasp of understanding.cousinbasil wrote: Is it that you cannot respond in a rational manner, or that you merely prefer not to?

Re: Space.
I meant - make an argument, numbskull. You keep "insinuating" that there is nothing about the human intellect that is other than a biochemical mechanical process - that there is nothing substantively more complex going on. The level of your interaction is low enough to support your position, I will grant you that much. But I know you can do better. (I.e., that you prefer not to respond in a rational manner rather than you cannot - see above.)prince wrote:I responded rationally, but what I insinuated is currently beyond your grasp of understanding.cousinbasil wrote: Is it that you cannot respond in a rational manner, or that you merely prefer not to?
You are not explaining how it is that some matter can use deduction, and - more telling - induction, while other matter cannot. You have apparently not studied Thermodynamics or organic chemistry or physics or mathematics. Had you done so, even on a basic level, you might grasp the philosphical conundrum to which I am referring.
I grant you most human life is stupid and rather mechanical. But please answer me this question. If you indeed were to slit my throat, the resulting corpse would have the same molecular and morphological structure yet could not post anything - what makes it such that I can post?
Re: Space.
Well there isn't. And the level of complexity is philosophically irrelevant.cousinbasil wrote: You keep "insinuating" that there is nothing about the human intellect that is other than a biochemical mechanical process - that there is nothing substantively more complex going on.

The apostrophe would go on the right side of the o. It's supposed to stand for the omitted letter.I'm not a philosopher. The cats out 'o the bag now!
I don't know and I sure as hell don't care. Look, I'm no philosopher, either - but at least I think for myself. What am I, sport? (leaving myself open for your projection here)

Right, I don't. But you are going to enlighten me, aren't you! (that is, if you have integrity and purpose)cousinbasil wrote:That's just it - you don't.

At last something we agree on!
Re: Space.
I can see your ego is hampering your ability to understand that nowhere and somewhere are interchangeable arbitrary labels.
