Do you think it's only useful for procreation?
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
It is not even of use to me for that, except, of course, that I am alive because of it.

Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
A high sex-drive directly correlates with the creative and productive output of a person.
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
Assuming you speak from experience what do you do that is highly creative and productive?

Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
I've written 2 decent-sized books by now, am in good shape and have a generally positive outlook on life.
I've learned how to stay calm under pressure and adversity-people like Dan think I'm angry and vitriolic but I always sit here pretty calmly whenever I type out my posts.
What are your productive examples?

Have they been published?1otherS wrote:I've written 2 decent-sized books by now,
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
How many drafts did you take them through? Roughly how long are they? Fiction or non-fiction? What is the subject matter?

I'm not even looking to get them in print. They were written for personal use.Dan Rowden wrote:Have they been published?1otherS wrote:I've written 2 decent-sized books by now,

I constantly rewrite every sentence I think of- I've done multiple drafts. They are both more than 100 pages long. The subject matter is personal.Carl G wrote:How many drafts did you take them through? Roughly how long are they? Fiction or non-fiction? What is the subject matter?
I already know some of Dan's life...What about yours Carl G?
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
I've spent most of my life as a pilgrim on the spiritual path, working to improve myself.

Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
In what ways have you actually improved yourself?
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
Reduction in ego and negative emotions. Increased consciousness, love, and acceptance.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
Sounds more like a diary or a journal.1otherS wrote:I've written 2 decent-sized books by now
If you want to impress, the best way to do it is with the quality of your thought. This has been lacking.
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
Quality of thought? You chastise whomever happens to disagree with you. Do you call that wisdom?
Should I really get busy impressing the likes of YOU? What have YOU actually done except shouting at the wrongs of the world (while the biggest disorder is within yourself)?

Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
Haha. That hyphen is supposed to be a break between two sentences.
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
BTW, those of you picking on 1otherS for having 2 unpublished books might want to remember that Kevin has an unpublished book and David has at least one.
It's particularly ironic to see Kevin himself being dismissive of unpublished books.

Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
You need to go back and read the discussion again. In doing so you may note that 1otherS states that he did not write his books for publication but for purely personal "whatevers". Hence Kev saying they were basically journals or diaries.
Re: Progress Towards Enlightenment
Yeah, I suppose that does qualify it somewhat.
I'd also suspect he might be kidding himself on that. Nobody writes a book for the desk drawer. Sour grapes?

My feeling is that 1otherS means he's written enough crap over the last whatever to fill 2 books. But then, who the hell hasn't.

I think what Kevin means is that there is more to thinking than simply slinging mud at targets you don't like. You haven't provided much evidence that you are capable of anything more than slinging mud.
I recommend that you slow down, focus on one topic and explore it with depth and intelligence. Perhaps some quality will then arise.
