So.. you are appealing to some kind of authority on philosophy?
I have a friend who has a Philosophy degree and his favourite is Thomas Aquinas. He is a self-proclaimed Thomist.

I'm trying to puzzle out why my response would be so prized. All you do in school is read different philosophers. There's no special thing that I've done that makes my answer better than anyone else's. Just ask a question about a philosopher, and if someone's read them, their answer will be as good as any other.
A mindful man needs few words.

Trevor
You have great answers in every topic you speak. You prove sensible.
A degree in Philosophy is something you pay for, they are given out like hotcakes because you paid for them.
So essentially a person pays for their opinion and are regarded with respect. Otherwise, an opinion is just an opinion,
but an educated opinion gets recognition because it's been paid for.
And because the opinion comes from an educated mind, it is considered an authority opinion. It's like saying only the
educated opinions matter, no one else's does.
Which brings this topic to the 'Educated vs. the Layman's ideas'
So now we compare an 'educated' opinion with a layman's 'opinion' but no one knows who is who. The question is asked, and the answers are collected and amazingly we find the layman has the better answer.

Shadow,
If you have a specific question regarding metaphysics, just ask it.

My position is this - There isn't much we can know for certain about metaphysics...
To me, metaphysics involves talking about what is beyond our known observable reality. For instance: if there are deeper dimensions that we are incapable of perceiving and so on. However, currently we do not have the scientific instruments or the perceptive scope to confirm or disprove metaphysical claims, so we are left with uncertainty.

Metaphysics to me are laws. For example 1+1=2 is metaphysics. A=A is metaphysics. A^2+B^2=C^2 is metaphysics.

Re: Memebers of the site a question for you all.
Strictly speaking, Metaphysics deals with Truth, rather than the contingent facts of, say, empirical observations. In that sense the physicalism of a scientist is as much a metaphysic as the otherworldliness of a religionist. The term has come to be directly associated with the supernatural or realms beyond the normal scope of analysis, but that's not what it means.

Ok, now do you have any actual questions regarding metaphysical issues?
Re: Memebers of the site a question for you all.
What is the nature of metaphysics?

"What is the Nature of Metaphysics?
This is the same as saying what is the nature of 'truth'
The nature of truth is individual, the truth of one's self is the nature of that truth.
E.g. The guy is a habitual liar, that is the truth of his nature.
E.g. The woman is narcissistic, that is the truth of her nature.
