No, the psycho Obama, and the equally psycho McCain, with both their running-dog Veeps are gonna bring us to the monetary unification of the Canadian-American dollars with the Mexican peso in 2010. Congress (the Senate) went along with this charade in the Clinton years by way of Treaty. A nifty way to bypass the voting electorate.

Brian Harper, the Canadian prime minister, is putting the government of Canada up for election. The Conservatives would otherwise lose as they see the writing on the wall.

Nope. It seemed screwed-up when I was young. You'll die a ripe old age before (America Mexico, Canada) and the New World Order [run by the beast system] goes down.

The only difference is what Honduras, Bolivia & Venezuela are up to. Russia is docking in Bolivia as I write this. What China (Huchinson-Wampoa) does with Panama does perhaps Shahrazad can fill in those loose ends. I haven't passed through Panama since about 1987 so not up to snuff.

The current financial crisis for one.

The US has been running on empty for a while. It has become a debt based economy fueled by the status of Dollar as a world currency, and the mortgage bubble fueled by speculation in housing prices. What happens when the world stops funding American consumerism.

The US economy is in very serious trouble. How bad it is going to get is a guess. No one knows for sure.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. In this case the worst means something along the lines of a '30s-style depression or hyperinflation of the dollar. The way the current world economy works, this can not be contained to the US. You can see today how other markets react when the US stock market decides to take a dive (over the last few days).

At best, not too many more banks will fail, the gov't will figure out a way to prop up Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the FDIC, AIG, etc, and the economy will only go through a regular recession.

Even in the best case, there will still be other outstanding issues to address - Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare are all looming financial crises.

And that's a best case scenario.

It seems to mean that individuals and business who can't pay their debts are getting a reprieve via the Fed taking money from the rest of us. We are paying back those debts. It is rewarding people for being irresponsible.

Not to sound too repititious, but the elephant in the room is our 51st state, Iraqilvania. Building and propping up this state has weakened the US economy, and therefore the world's economy. Washington cannot enter a war to drag us out of the threatening Depression because we are already in one. At any rate, it was the transition of the US economy to a wartime economy that helped pull us out of the last Depression, but many people do not realize that the transition was permanent. The jobs created by the burgeoning military-industrial complex sector became permanent fixtures. The cost of Iraq and the long-term drain on US resources will mean raising the tax ceiling near or past 50% in the next 4 years.

Bear-Stearns was just an augury.

Although it is great to see holes being shot in a lot of the golden parachutes. Those fat fucks won't exactly go splat, but it's still good to see.

As they always have been. They usually pretend not to be, around election time. Seems the pretense has been dropped.

Socialism for the rich and well connected, ruthless capitalism for others.

The financial system has been effectively nationalized. However, there's a lot more socialization going on. "Socializing risk and privatizing reward" seems to be the order of the day.

I don't see how dumping on the order of $1T into the economy could not be disruptive (although possibly less disruptive, at this point, than not doing it). It seems like that money is already gone; the government is just paying it back. Where has it gone? Where will the money to pay it back come from? Will there ever be any accountability?


The Dow down over 300 points today... not even worth a headline anymore. Oil up $16 a barrel, gold up $44 an ounce. The fun continues.

People oppose the bailout overwhelmingly, and yet both candidates go ahead and approve it wholeheartedly.

These elections and debates are a sham, if there was any doubt that a select elite run the show, it is all gone.

Makes me wonder if democracy is after all an opiate of the masses, so that they do not rise against their overlords, sedated by the propaganda of freedom and choice.
