Quite insightful, Anders. There is an old aphorism about college degrees which echoes this: B.S. = Bull Shit. M.S. = More Shit. PhD = Piled Higher and Deeper.

I am afraid is does not do a bang-up job of shaping them into social animals, either.Anders wrote: but it shapes them into becoming social animals, not good thinkers.
This is precisely what people do while they are in college. except for burning their books. It is outside the University where people are waiting to collect one's urine to test for drugs, and so on.so the moment they receive said piece of paper they start taking drugs, drinking, partying, burning their books
For most people, this is exactly when the struggle begins. Suddenly, they realize that the world is indifferent. One is fortunate to find a position which is consistent with one's values, or at least does not require one to act contrary to them. Finding a partner, settling down, these are not paths likely to be easy in any case since life for most people is not easy by nature. Coasting through life turns out to be a pipe dream for the majority of people, I would think. They merely 'advance' that step further where they can start to settle down, find a partner, and stop the struggle.

Re: Can one study too much?
thanks.
I think you're right about the fact that people don't 'stop struggling' and settle down without any more problems. After Uni people are struggling to find their job, the right partner, they struggle for promotion within their job, their children's educations etc. But there's no struggle internally, no inward ethical philosophical struggle, no struggle of existence. People aren't concerned with it!

You're right - they're not. In the end, merely providing for themselves is struggle enough for most people, because the world is largely indifferent to one's inner struggles.Anders Schlander wrote:thanks.

I know I'm a little late getting to this, and you might not even see it due to your schedule, but... why, Pye? What motivated you to say this?Pye wrote:And finally, whilst in emotive mode, fuck off, Alex.
The feminine Alex
Pye is referring to Alex's penchant for PMing people. Shortly after Pye made the above comment, Alex T. Jacob showed up as Talking Ass (again). Alex's first go-around here had stated he would not return so he told Dan to cancel his membership (as Alex Jacob the mynah bird) because he (felt he) had gotten all there was to "get" here. Well, sure as shit smells he arrived some months later as Talking Ass and was found out to be Alex Jacob. He tired of all that and left for a while. Lo and behold, he returns for a third time as Alex T. Jacob, a couple people commented he has been here under a few alias's. He departed and is now back, again, as Talking Ass.guest_of_logic wrote:I know I'm a little late getting to this, and you might not even see it due to your schedule, but... why, Pye? His posts are long-winded and devoid of any real content.
His Alex Jabob & Alex T. Jacob have been deleted as members (this user does not exist).
Really Laird, how much more feminine-minded is there someone here than Alex?
He can't make up his mind just who he is. Alex T., Talking Ass or Alex Jacob. Sounds pretty feminine to me.
Quite plainly, no girl here measures up to his mother. So he goes about bashing the women here over and over again. His mother was clearly masculine-minded and is thus the image he holds dear to his heart. This was made evident on how he brings up Sarah Palin over and over. He posts a semi-porn thing about Todd & Sarah Palin in a thread over on Worldly. He has an odd fascination with 18-and-under girls. He has issues unresolved from growing up. His mother sheltered him. He goes on about living with his momma in the San Francisco area.
He can't find a steady girlfriend that measures up to his momma, the ideal woman. Or, the girl sees him for the shallow man he really is. Take your pick.
Do a word search on some of his many-used words. Such as the word "grant". That's how he was found out when he left as Alex and returned as Talking Ass. He uses the word "grasp" a lot also. Kelly brought it up and so he went into his feminine huff again.
He referred to Sue as a "den mother'. Clearly not like his momma.
PS - More later if you care to...

Don't worry about it, Laird. All things pass.guest-of-logic: why, Pye? What motivated you to say this?
And in doing so, deliver to me the offenses to reason that they carried.
(Tomas, no need to [mis]interpret my occasion for your complaints. Speak for yourself alone.)

genius is dead. we have killed it, you and i.
can you kill a rabbit without pursuing it?
happiness hides in the darkness that is ignorance, must we shed light on this darkness?

I suppose this would be of interest to Uncle Dote, Blair, Bobo and Dennis.Tomas wrote:To quote the newbie, Cousin Basilica: "...and let's face it, if you are not the alpha dog on the sled, all you ever see is some other dog's asshole."Carmel wrote:Really?
I thought you held the view that we're all just "pixels on a screen"?
And Cousin Basilica's other nugget: "...Is this how Geniuses are to conduct discourse?"
In my nomothetic pixel-talk .. some pixels smell and look better than others.
PS - Basil-infused spaghetti & meatballs - What a lovely scent and heavenly sight!
This where I had Brokenhead / Cousinbasil figured out. From here on out it was to put my brand of offense to work on tripping-up (trapping) a troll.
I'd suspect Alex was in on the ruse, too. As he has claimed to know Brokenhead from back yonder.
And a very special thanks! goes out to Diebert. He's the best here, ever.
;-) - And a (couple minute) video on Youtube of Brokenhead and his alter ego Cousinbasil in that squirrel trap. Enjoy...

cousinbasil(or ?), don't mind Tomas, he's just testing you, either that, or maybe he didn't score any wins tonight at Wednesday night Bingo down at the Freemason's lodge, so he's a bit grumpy. :(
Anyway, he gives everyone here a hard time, don't take it personally....but it's dished out equilaterally and offset with a good sense of humour, so I really can't complain...too much. :)
More lies from a troll.

Yes.. but only if you have been religious conditioned.. as indicated by sustaining migraines from thinking beyond the conditioning's permitted 7% mind usage...
Should you notice an "overload study headache", simply start reciting aloud, a piece of dogma that you are well versed in, and the conditioning will instantly release a quantity of your glandular bio-anesthetics into the now constricted cerebral plumbing, thereby vanquishing the pain...
To prevent such headaches, don't use any more than 7% of your mind, so to not trigger the conditioning to make you begin to self-destruct... Or if you have it to upset the conditioning with facts established beyond the conditioning's creation, you can then burn-out the conditioning, thereby freeing yourself from hell's dogmatic claws.. but only if you possess some reasonable degree of control over your spirit, your mind's controls, and you possess mighty quick reflexes, and fear nothing that be in the otherside, the rest of Life & Love...
