Re: Women Combat Pilots, Are they really necessary?

I think that it is precisely the "thou shalt not compliment" attitude that is fostered here that leads to misunderstandings sometimes. Compliments are part of the cultural meme, possibly even part of the human hard-wiring, that balance out the criticisms. We keep a subconscious tally of ho...

Re: Women Combat Pilots, Are they really necessary?

Ah, yes - actually I did admire your posts with actual statistics and/or links to statistics in them. I thought about giving you a compliment about them, but for a variety of board-specific reasons I did not make a public compliment, and I neglected to send you a pm with a private compliment. I'm so...

Re: Women Combat Pilots, Are they really necessary?

I was just referencing that I'd seen an awful lot of references to the GF lately. I know that A was making a point with each one, but that many points from one source started looking like the biased sample fallacy - and I took the vague similarity between what he was saying and what he was doing to ...

Re: Women Combat Pilots, Are they really necessary?

My girlfriend wears the garments of a philosopher, but day-in and day-out she proves to me that her primary focus is on our relationship to each other. If I desire to share an insight into the nature of anything from Egotism to the decoherence of quantum superposition, she will find some way of twi...

EI: It's just that the "thick as a brick" comment was something I'd come to expect from Blair - not you. Blair: Nah, I would have said as thick as pigshit. EI: I sit corrected. Nah, I would have said as thick as pigshit. I sit corrected. The human mind creates the ideal being of enlighten...

I know I could keep shut. I've kept shut all my life on two things and haven't uttered a word to anyone. By saying that much, you have proven that you are not fit for top secret clearance. Animus, you know that not all females are the same. There are politically incorrect generalizations that may h...

You do not understand Correct again. this is getting real serious real quick. Assuming that by "this" you mean "the condition of humanity" - I agree. I am not being a 'big meany'. I am trying to warn and help. You have always been trying to warn and help. It's just that the &quo...

Re: Hello Philosophers

Well that 's a lot harsher than I have noticed from Bo1 before. At least both of you have stated in one way or another that you are done with each other. IMO, the most mature thing to do would be to stick to that and leave each other alone.

He has called me dishonest and a low life. I don't believe I am the second thing, and I know I am not the first. I did not see that/those posts. You are neither. Re: Hello Philosophers

Am I being too hard on Bo1, Elizabeth? He has this spooky habit of being right. That's kind of hard to ignore. Where the fundamentals - the "in the box" philosophy is a very important - no, an absolutely necessary foundation, if we build nothing on the foundation, we will live only in the...

Re: Women Combat Pilots, Are they really necessary?

The squadron(an all-women one) didn't survive the war either, as it was dissolved in 1947/48, so obviously they weren't seen as important. Important or not does not seem to be so much the question as are they adequately interchangeable for men in that position? Why should men do all of this type of...

And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Wow - there's a person in there. I thought that your English was too good to be a personal spammer, though there were enough errors to raise some flags about the origin of your post. For your SN on a philosophy site, you chose the name of a pharmaceutical (plus the number 1, which would be a good wa...

Re: Define Gender Gap? Look Up Wikipedia’s Contributor List

A man might get severely upset that such an error has made its way into being and set about immediately foregoing all else to correct the error. That may mean going to bed late and getting up late after spending all night researching, verifying and editting an article. There's only one "t"...

Sue Gardner, the executive director of the foundation, has set a goal to raise the share of female contributors to 25 percent by 2015, but she is running up against the traditions of the computer world and an obsessive fact-loving realm that is dominated by men So the majority of fact-lovers are me...

Homer,

Did you pick your screen name by naming yourself after the cartoon character Homer Simpson? If so, are you a sockpuppet for someone else we already know? If not, are you aware that in the post above, you were attempting to engage in debate with a spambot?
