They're not separate truths. They're merely on different rungs of a hierarchy, distinguished by merit of contingency.

Re: The Fundamental Unity of Being

You're not reading very carefully.

At no point has Jehu said that you are not real. What he has said is that your conception of you is not real.

Likewise, your conception of a perceived battle with him is not real. Please don't clutter the thread any further with it.

Re: The Fundamental Unity of Being

I've had plenty to say on various points Bird but I refrained from doing so because I didn't want to complicate what Jehu's trying to do. As it stands, nobody's going to be arsed working their way through all of this and the progression of Jehu's syllogisms are all but lost. We're now half way down ...

Re: The Fundamental Unity of Being

To all, I would be most happy to start the enquiry anew, but we must first lay down some guidelines, as it is exceedingly difficult to carry on a multiplicity of separate enquiries at one time. First, I should like to know who exactly will be participating in the enquiry, and if someone should wish...

Re: The Fundamental Unity of Being

I'd be grateful if you to start again Jehu, point by point, everything up to now. For the sake of clarity, try where possible to use one term, i.e. being or existence, and stick with that same term. And it wold be nice to know where you're heading eventually too. I presume this will be beyond 'the n...

Re: Cosmology and "Kosmos"

Anyone unbiased here have a fair understanding of cosmological physics that can grade our papers? Unbiased in that I don't think Mooney is a complete fuckwit? Sadly not. Objective in a scientific manner? Yes. You get a B for content, an A for persistence and an E for not realising the futility of t...

Existence is existent.
Non-existence is non-existent.

Being is.
Non-being is not.

More evidence is those same hard working slaves buying expensive goods because they feel they have worked hard and therefore deserve them, and then complaining about the rising prices across the economy, blind to the fact that it is them driving those prices up by their spending. John Mclaughlin is hardly on his own on that technical plane mate. But I've always thought of him as perhaps the most spiritual of guitarists, whatever that means. Anyway the Tetris effect is totally commonplace. Try working with spreadsheets all day and then, if you manage to get figures out of you...

Re: Causality and determinism

See the last definition on that search page: Logic: Broadly, the art of non-contradictory identification, using the laws of logic, which are the: 1) Law of Identity (A is A); 2) Law of Non-Contradiction (A cannot be ~A); and 3) Excluded Middle (B can be either A or not ~A). This is logic, the nature...

Re: Logical politics

Etymologically, democracy means rule of the majority. I have long thought that the idea of democracy follows your definition here, and as such, it is the idea that has the most social value. It doesn't take much thought to see that there is no such thing as a true democracy in practice. Indeed. Nev...

Re: Logical politics

Appealing to the people is not a logical fallacy in the context of ruling the people according to their will. Rather it is a necessity. A democracy needn't be representative. Etymologically, democracy means rule of the majority. DT: The problem, logic wise, is that people aren't exclusively logical...

Re: Causality and determinism

Because you're using the present tense to refer to the future. What I meant was that if causality is never violated then time is an illusion, and the whole universe can be already seen as unfolded across the fourth dimension of time. That is it is a four dimensional static object, with each 3 dimen...

Does causality imply that the future is fixed? Nope. If not why not[?] Because you're using the present tense to refer to the future. If the future is fixed, then where is the merit or demerit for the individual. The enlightened had no choice but be enlightened, and the fool had no choice to be oth...
