Re: Enlightenment and Rationality
From my viewpoint, the state of enlightenment – if we should call it that– is the same for whoever has ended up permanently abiding there. Right there is the problem in your idea. What kind of state is this where we can "permanently abide"? Is it bliss, torment, love, boredom, thoughtless...

Re: Entropy always increase...
How does the second law of thermodynamics relate to the nature of Ultimate Reality? To which "Ultimate Reality" are you referring? If you have read the writing of David Quinn - and to a lesser extent, that of Solway and Rowden - you will have noticed a certain disdain for scientific princ...

Re: To Philosophise is to learn how to die...
The gist of that presentation was more along the lines of, To Philosophise (sic) is to come to terms with the idea of death. It was mostly fluff, as could be expected from such a lightweight poser. Philosophise is not erroneous if you are in the UK. Yep, I've heard Critchley being dismissed as a bi...

Anyone familiar with his three books and his take on enlightenment / spirituality?
I find his tone quite arrogant and condescending at times but he makes some salient points.

Existential dilemma My father is seriously ill in hospital - too old to undergoe much more treatment. Should I take on another job and raise money to send him on a trip (if he does have any time left in this life) or should I detach further and continue contemplating the ultimate nature of reality?

Re: Neurosexism
Brizindine is an easy one to pick on. But as commentors suggest, there is good research on this too. The article takes a stab at the easiest research to discredit. I knew to ignore Brizindine, but there is much more research. I'm not saying that adult brain differences are determinate, because they...

Regards prince, he has openly shared some details about his childhood traumas, which he hasn't yet learnt to overcome. There's nothing to be ashamed of, in any intrinsic way, for that.. There's that patronising tone again. You are far more a typical woman than you want to admit, if you want my 2 ce...

Re: Buddhism
How does one achieve a radical change in consciousness? My experience is that such a thing comes of itself if one reaches a point in life whereby he's thoroughly sick and tired of himself, the world around him, and existence itself. And that a person most likely won't reach this point unless he pos...

Ok, so is there anyone from the last fifty years that is worth reading? Not really in my view. After the 19th century philosophical thought appears to fall in either of two camps: at one side technocrats, bean-counters and bookkeepers who are all merely fleshing out some of the mental foundations p...

"The thesis the book Sex & Character advocates is little more than self-serving for it justifies Otto's misogynism and antisemitism. The story of Otto weininger is best characterized as "what could have been" for he blew his brains out at age 23. A life intentionally cut short, Ot...
