That's a lot to talk about. There's a lot of people just striving for acknowledgement too.

Re: Barriers

I mean, the worst I ever was only involved an exaggerated focus on the "dream-like" illusory view and an egoistic clinging to it. It's more about the "extremism", as that sort of things ruins any possible credibility or uniqueness to the site. When I analyze it I don't find the ...

Re: Perception and Reality

Russell, it seems that you and Seeker think that the objects of consciousness are impermanent so they come to an end, and you are proposing material causes to things and maybe something permanent which is not conscious, while Seeker is saying that consciousness is the cause of things and it is perma...

Re: Perception and Reality

Beingof1, while particle physics and physics in general are interpreted the psychological interpretation seems far from it as it cannot be tested like particles may be, I also think that you are mixing semi-mathematical models with physics, for example what is the unit of measurement for consciousne...

Re: Perception and Reality

Let me chime in this discussion for a moment, if part of it where someone's else views on the matter and it may help on the resolution or may benefit other people, from the link Russell provided for the PFTH I gather that: What makes all things? The senses make all things. What is consciousness? Tho...

Re: Perception and Reality

Hello bo1, I'm not so sure what you mean by 'all things', are they unique or there are things that repeat within the set? If, for example, someone had a box with 8 white balls numbered from 1 to 8 and if a ball is picked from the box, by looking at the numbers one could know which balls are inside a...

Somewhere in the brain? The distinctions we would have to make are between counscious , unconscious and not even conscious as parts of what we experience as events and other people's consciousness.

Re: Perception and Reality

There's a funny thing about memories that sometimes they come in flashes and flushes. So if something like that happened with a memory of being in a baseball game for example for a moment a person wouldn't be counscious of have been conscious at the game. So it seems that things can be brought into ...

>> Can there be a reality 'outside' of consciousness? Please, all the wise ones take a shot at this would ya? Why not, there are things that aren't thoughts which are located spatio-temporally on the 'outside', outside is just how we call it and the evidence for it is that it can be referred to with...

Re: Perception and Reality

I don't think this is about our ability to pin point a beginning and end in things, the arguments put forth are that things without beginning and end don't exist, and things that exist have to be empirically verified and have beginnings and ends.

Re: PConspiracy

You're describing the fight between good and evil like other religions, in yours it also means male vs female. No society would be better off under yours or any other religious babble, that's not how things work in secular democratic societies.

Prominence of masculine and feminine values in society? I think I've never heard of anything like this in the way you are talking about or do you mean male chauvinism, that was a thing. I don't think there's any PConspiracy on this issue as it is just not good societal analysis and talking about mat...

Re: Cycles of Civilization

While women were often excluded from the public life it seems that female and male roles are usually complementary in societies not excludent, so I don't think it makes much sense in dividing society in male and female values, the dominance of values and division of civilization are usually not gend...

What caught my attention was "or what causes consciousness, is an empirical matter.", it seems that you're talking about things that have an existence without an observer.

Re: Perception and Reality

Uhhh, Russell if I'm not mistaken you also think that things only have existence when they appear to an observer? So your concept of existence is relative -ie. it only makes sense to talk about something existing in relation to some observer- other than that from this position the question of consci...

Re: What Insights Have You Experienced?

I do hate women, but one can be a misogynist without hating women. Misoginy means hatred of women, one can be hateful toward others without having the feelings hate, so one cannot be a mysogynist without hatred by definition it is just that hate and other emotions can be a learned behaviour that us...

Re: What Insights Have You Experienced?

It seems to have some roots in theosophy, they do some talk on the infinite, the all, but it is new age stuff. I don't remember saying that, I have some degree of interest in christianism as it appears to me as being closer to eastern religions than it is normally put out there. The idea of faith gi...

The forms of energy can transform into one another. Thought form of video can transform into physical form of video, physical form ...
