Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

Our difference seems to lie with the importance placed on the body-function called thought (there is no thinker); which from these eyes is unimportant for the actuality of realization (which is not a Knowing of/in Thought but a Total Being of Truth, consequently saying 'Truth Is' and not saying 'I/...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

I think only if you concede the likenesses can you truly zero in on whatever it is that makes humans unique and superior.? Since we're briefly in some agreeable planetary alignment: quick! What do you think makes humans unique and/or "superior" if it's not a gift of consciousness? The amo...

Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

It's the everything appearing as a seemingly dualistic being through a body. "Everything" cannot appear, by definition. It is only the parts of everything(i.e, things) that appear, and those parts are no more illusory than "everything" is. Duality and Unity are the same reality,...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

Jupiviv, This statement contradicts itself. If he didn't have any insight, then he remained ignorant, and couldn't make any statement about whether he was in his natural state or his artificial state, and all the rest. There is no One to have any insight or to be ignorant - this is the point. Only i...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

David, When you block out the existence of your ego, just block it out. When you deceive others, just deceive them. You have an erroneous view of the Ego. Let me address it. The Ego is the Source, Impersonal Consciousness, identified with a particular body/mind organism as a separate entity with a s...

Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

If you read Schopenhauer you know what will is. It's the everything appearing as a seemingly dualistic being through a body. The surrender is the understanding (direct, not abstract / rational) that there is no separate experiencer / doer - thus understanding its illusionary nature. Resistance is s...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

This can just as easily describe a person on drugs. An acid trip, for example. When a particular kind of person (e.g. one who isn't carrying around too much emotional baggage from the past) goes on a good trip (no anxiety, paranoia, etc), he can experience all the things that you describe above. Th...

Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

Well, I've met too many people who hold the same views as you and who still continue to bow down in reverence to a guru. That they see no contradiction in this suggests that the type of surrendering they are engaging in in each case is identical. The hope that something will come along - either a g...

Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

David, Oh no, you haven't fallen for that naffy nonsense, have you? Please say it isn't so! It's a disease that's everywhere nowadays. Wherever I go, people are surrendering all their strength and will and sinking into the myths perpetuated by modern Buddhism and other similar forms of New Agey pap....

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

David, UG did dive into the essential matter more fully, but I contend that he didn't really cope with it all that well himself, as shown by his cartoonish personality and his meglomaniac and false belief that he had actually attained the perfection of being entirely without self. Again, idiosyncra...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

UG is an eastern version of Nietzsche - seemingly contradictory but always wise. Though I don't think Nietszche underwent the perceptual shift which would have rid him of the clouds of identification. And of course UG wasn't a literary artist as Nietzsche was.

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

David, (and the rest if you're interested) just listen to this link, the guy is explaining the "enlightenment" with such accuracy, clarity and intelligence. And he speaks like someone who lives what he speaks, you can hear the immediacy and the truth in his words. I'll linked this earlier ...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

Jupiviv: Ok, first I just wanna point out that I really don't feel like protecting the dude all to much. I don't hold his persona (the outer expressions) in as high regard as UG or Nissa. for example. I just thought it's nice for once with a living person explaining a actual perceptual shift (if one...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

There is a very good reason why none of the masters of the past - the Buddhas, the Lao Tzus, the Jesuses, etc - ever made the attempt to describe enlightenment. I reached in experience the nirvana which is unborn, unrivaled, secure from attachment, undecaying and unstained. This condition is indeed...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

When I said I listened to it, I mean to say that I barely lasted 5 minutes before my eyes started drooping. 6 minutes in and I was snoring deeply. Similar to my reaction - like I observed earlier in this thread, he is largely unlistenable. His speech is halting and full of "you-knows." Th...

Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

Not true. There is no doubt in my mind that when the Buddha sat down under the bodhi tree with the vow to never get up until he became enlightened, he finally, after years of being side-tracked by ignorant practices such as fasting and meditation, made the decision to fully utilize his reasoning po...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

Well, I don't know about love-letter. I mean, it's clearly written by a man who has deep respect and awe for this enigma of a man. Consider the many writings from devotees about the various gurus and sages of the times and this is nothing. Or even in our western parts, let a deep admirer of Nietzsch...

Re: Steven Norquist - Audio lecture on his enlightenment pro

This thread doesn't appear to be about Steven Norquist but I'll make a comment nonetheless. I'm reading his book called Haunted Universe. I like his slightly dark approach. I have no idea if he is enlightened or not, since this brand of enlightened master and those like him i.e. U.G. Krishnamurti, ...

Re: Can someone confirm my understanding the QRS philosophy?

We can never be separated from the Infinite, David. It's only the delusion that we are separated from it that causes the suffering - a delusion caused by miss-identification with the 'furthest' extension of consciousness - thoughts and emotions. Reverse the process and go head into the rabbit hole. ...
