Re: Paris in The Clink
She's no criminal. She drove drunk. She is not only a criminal, she is one of the worst sorts of criminals there are, the truely random ones. She doesn't care who she hurts or kills. Will it be me? I've never done anything to her, but I do drive, so maybe. Who knows? Who cares? She certainly doesn't.

Re: General Difficulties & Solution
How do you expect to overlay a system where everyone's basic needs are met with free market capitalism? I mean, that's essentially what we have today with the exception that everyone's needs aren't met. Although SSI and SSD payments vary by person, I am living at about half of the poverty level, and...

There's simply not enough of us here to feed and house the admin. At best, the website could be partially paid for, but most people here are rather poor, anyway... a good number don't work either and those who do aren't likely to be executive types who could afford to pay for 3 people's livelihoods ...

Re: Spreading wisdom on the web
Kelly, it appears that the left side of the page has too much stuff while the right is a bit unbalanced. Or maybe it's just that the google bar was in an odd spot neither center nor right?

To play devils advocate though - it may seem as though you're asking money in exchange for wisdom which is a bit fishy.

I've only read 3 pages, but I think they have a valid point in that the number of posts you started with was a bit odd. You might have done better to have one post with several quotations in it. The way you did it does look odd to me.

Re: Coping mechanisms
I say music and the internet are good because they keep me from slapping my roommates when they put "celebrity gossip" on at volumes I'm certain ya'll can hear in Oz at 3am - I may be irritated that I'm awake and unable to concentrate on anything to read, but at least I have something to d...

Re: The Lethargic working class
Summer camp councelor had the same effect on me. It wasn't strenuous physically but involved a lot of stress/adrenaline keeping track of 20 7 year olds. I got an hour break every day and I just slept. It was sad. But also, I think a lot of it was that I was always in the sun. I've found, since movin...

Hmm, I think by and large you're making my point there! I have actually found several things on stumbleupon that I've found quite interesting, and you can set your own categories for what it finds for you. I, for example, stumbledupon this interesting site (though admittedly I was probably the firs...

Re: In the News
I have not much relevant to add, but a random story, which is that Mary went to the first college I went to (Colorado College) and her father blames the school for making her into a lesbian. It just all points to a significantly more feminine society down the track, as their kids will be growing up ...
Re: Faith
In making this distinction, I think it would serve this discussion well if you would define your idea of faith in this context for us. Faith in this context is both belief that is acted upon. In otherwords stating "I am a Christian" is different than actually basing your life upon the wor...
Re: Faith
I think faith is nothing more than a declaration of belief, nothing more than a statement. The majority of those who claim to have faith are no different to those who don't have faith if they but remained silent. I think that is true of religion . I'm not sure how true of actual faith it is though....

Try this: http://v.mercola.com/blogs/public_blog/Powerful-Video-Showing-How-Drugs-Harm-Children-14587.aspx A. Correlation =/=causation. Just because one kid who happened to be on ADHD drugs went batty doesn't mean kids on ADHD drugs go batty. Nor even that there's a higher prevalence, which invokin...

I think it's important to think about emotions, rather than to express or suppress them. OK, so don't use the ignore function yourself since that is the position you are in. What does it matter to you whether someone else uses the ignore function? This sounds a lot more like paranoia that you'll be...

And no, using the scrolling function doesn't work very well for ignoring someone who is intentionally abusing you.

Re: The Reasoning Show - Dr V.V. Raman
There are a multitude of candidates running for the US presidency, do you not agree that the one with the most votes from the public will be voted in? No, I don't agree. For example in 2000 Bush got 47% of the popular vote compared to Gore's 48% (and that's the official record, completely ignoring ...

Re: The Reasoning Show - Dr V.V. Raman
The main difference is that there is a democracy in America, so if opinions quickly change, then leadership changes as well. This is a bonus because their type of government is much more favorable to positive change by intellectuals, general opinion and so on. Uhm. Since when? Approval Ratings have...
