Re: Have we got Buddhism right?
Hi Kevin, Sorry to be a troublemaker but I think your view of Buddhism is wrong, try thinking more along the lines of Plato's Noble Lie. With some being initiated into the secret that the lie is a lie, and others not. Setting up an inner circle and therefore "insiders" and "outsiders...

Re: Wisdom of the Infinite Regress
(We're almost there :)) This is coming very close to the phenomenological truth: consciousness is always consciousness-of. But we are never looking at two separate entities - not consciousness-itself, or the things-themselves. The two happen together, make each other, if you will. Yes. In existenti...

Apart from the Jungian cosmic consciousness flavoured language the 10 points are pretty good advice.

Re: The spirit, the camel, the lion, and the child
The Camel represents the taking on of the apparent burden of a Truthful existence, representing a sort of dark night of the soul where all things toiling and heavy are taken on. The water of life that is truth will sustain the Camel through the barren land of finitude which has been sucked dry of t...

Re: Materialism, Idealism or mentalism?
Ataraxia, thanks for that Hume quote. It's funny with most Western philosopher's though. To them, the philosophical issues are merely conceptual, just something they think about, and then have dinner, or whatever. Never do they bring the reasoning into themselves in a transformative fashion, as is ...

Re: Materialism, Idealism or mentalism?
Show me the I. If it exists, you must be able to demonstrate it; it must be analytically findable. I've looked everywhere, but haven't found it. I'm still open about the idea though, so go ahead. Even David Hume was fairly sceptical: For my part, when I enter most intimately into what I call myself...

Well in my view he rewrote the book (at least in the West) on how people could think about the world.
It would probably be better if you investigated that for yourself, however. You don't really need him to be sold to you, do you?

It could've been a number of things. Syphillis, change in brain chemistry, overstressed with the concepts he was dealing with, or a combination of all those. He was in a lot of pain and didn't sleep much as well.
I don't see that it has much relevance to his body of work, personally.

Re: Religion: Nothing More Than A Comfort
I'm an ass and I have to point these things out? It is absolutely obvious that you make 'Jesus' into what you want or need him to be, which requires that you negate so much else of what he in fact 'was'. Is there a theist( both hominid and equine) on this planet who doesn't do that? Everyone claims...

I just did argue it. David made a statement and I countered it. You countered by making an unsupported claim(God loves us). That isn't an argument. So I respectfully asked you to support the claim. That you declined is duly noted. If you are going to ask me for elucidation, why do you not also ask ...
