Re: beyond the infinite

No concept is universally true. If this were true, why should I accept what you're saying here? Heh. As it turns out, it is only I who can effectively use this argument against you, instead of the other way around. I don't know why you are repeating the same argument. Because your primitive underst...

Re: beyond the infinite

Morality does not lose its meaning in the right context. Logical assertions like the former need to be applicable to all contexts for them to have any truth/meaning whatsoever. So the statement "Electrons revolve around a nucleus consisting of neutrons and protons" is completely meaningle...

Re: beyond the infinite

There is no absolute morality that applies to all cases, or for that matter, worldspaces. And I have never claimed that there is. But there are relative moral expressions existing within worldspaces. It follows by your logic that - since the moral expression mentioned earlier is not ultimately true...

Re: beyond the infinite

Yes, but those statements are about empirical things [statement x], and therefore are already not ultimate [statement y]. First of all, "You shall not kill any humans regardless of sex, race, beliefs or creed" , is a moral matter, not an empirical one. Second, I'd be interested to know ho...

Re: beyond the infinite

Then your statement about there being no ultimate assertions is meaningless, because it cannot possibly hold true after this "worldspace" collapses. If you believe that this is so, then your understanding is evidently inferior. The statements "You shall not kill any humans regardless...

What - so cannibalism, torture and paedophilia are ok then? Cool - come round to my house and I'll eat you. I'm feeling perfectly expressive and rather peckish. No, savage morality is not "cool". God is not an expression of Goodness in the moral sense, God is Truth. Morality and Beauty is...

Re: beyond the infinite

So it is ultimately true that we can make no ultimate assertions only within this essentially non-ultimate "conceptual worldspace"? No. When the conceptual worldspace you've opened up collapses, so do I. Hence, I make no ultimate assertions or negations; all I say arises dependently with ...

Re: beyond the infinite

Therefore, your assertion that ultimate assertions cannot be made at all, is nonsensical. No, it is perfectly valid as a response to you, because you (as the "asserter") have initated and locked into a perticular conceptual worldspace or perspective. Because of this, I flow within this wo...

Re: beyond the infinite

You can't say, ultimately, that we can't make ultimate assertions. As I've already said, I don't claim that to be an ultimate assertion. I agree with you that it would be nonsensical if I claimed that this were an ultimate assertion, because voidness is void. Hence, as I said below, all assertive l...

Re: beyond the infinite

So are you saying that we MAY make ultimate assertions, but at the same time we can't? You still don't make sense. [/i] We can't make ultimate assertions. However, we can talk sensibly about the ultimate by way of non-affirming negations. The ultimate logical analysis of water would be that it is w...

Re: beyond the infinite

Which is ultimate, or not? If it is not ultimate, your statement is nonsensical. Of course it's not nonsensical. It is perfectly valid on a relative, conventional level. Just like on the conventional level, it is more true that the planet earth is round rather than flat. However, that does not mean...

Re: beyond the infinite

Are you making this assertion ultimately? Nope. I am operating within a conceptual worldspace. Water is water if I perceive it to be water. It has no other existence other than what it seems to be. Right. That's why I thought it was redundant to claim that the water was contained within the Infinit...

Re: beyond the infinite

Ultimately it is contained in the infinite. Sounds confused and redundant to me. You can't make any ultimate assertions. Because any positive assertion always fall prey to logical consequences. I'd say rather that conventionally water is just a mental construct an nothing else. This is the way of t...

Re: Compassion or Disdain?

I think that when one realize that all beings are born at square one - that all beings are equally ignorant and blind at birth - it just becomes fatuous to disdain people lost in ignorance. If you can see that you were once wreathed in the very same darkness as they are now, but were able to rise ab...

Some would say that if one is awakened to their true nature, they would automatically be compassionate, and by such token would be unable to use hardcore pornography, given it is of a world that is dark and exploitative of one's fellow humans. Awakening to reality has nothing to do with morals. Mor...

Re: What is Love? Or did we do this before?

Do you think it is worthwhile to distinguish between "human love" and "divine love"? Like, human, biological, sexual love is simply that strong urge emerging from evolution in order for our species to survive. You see X, strong emotions kick in, you go after her/him. And divine l...

Re: Materialism, Idealism or mentalism?

Can you expand on this idea of unfindability for me? Certainly. It's quite simple actually. It means that whatever you search for with an analytical mind won't ever be found . Try to thoroughly search for a car, for example. If we're going to search for it, we need to know if the car is a) the same...
