Re: Jed

An authentic self doesn't get buffeted around by such forces. Such a one expresses himself freely and authentically at all times. Have you ever noticed that highly emotional people aren't "real" people at all? That they are simply a plastic bag blown in the swirling wind; they belong to t...

Re: Jed

So? My point is that the sage doesn't function on the basis of willful desire, he just spontaneously expresses his nature. ..I'm saying that he got to that point through will (ex. reading, discussing philosophy, meditation, etc). There's nothing authentic about the emotions. Stupidity is authentic....

Re: Jed

I think you're constructing boundaries where there should not be any boundaries. It's all very intertwined (the physical universe is very complex in deed - if it wasn't, then why is so little known about the brain? Why is there no cure for schizophrenia? Btw, you should keep in mind that a schizophr...

Re: Jed

Basically, it's not so much about will to disseminate as it is about the sage just being what he naturally is.
...But he got that way through will.
Nietzsche was more about authenticity of spirit than emotional revelry.
I don't get that. Mind showing me the difference? (please)

Re: Unconsciousness as a threat to the Species

Basically, I'm skeptical of what it means to be on guard every minute in a mental sense, it sounds like a pretty busy mental state to me… It doesn't have to be. For instance, when one repeats something over and over again, it becomes a habit and natural to oneself. It's kind of like meditation for ...

Re: Love/Hate

Sher, how do you define the type of love that you're talking about? I define it as the realistic as opposed to idealistic type. Love is very addictive, like a drug. At first, you just want/need a little bit of it, but as time elapses, that little bit doesn't satisfy you any more; you have become ha...

Re: ASUS Eee PC

Oh yeah, that's another thing that I'm going to make use off (thanks for the idea) - I'm going to carry a mini note book with me where ever I go. That's interesting... You don't reply when I'm sober, but you do reply when I can't care less about what or how I post. Why is that? I had 3 crest beers (10%alc.), ever had? - One of the cheapest beers you can get around here, but they do the trick quite nicely. My plan is to get as screwed up as po...

Is it only because of the emotional aspect to it that bothers you? Or... I wonder if animals feel emotions? Emotions are an evolved trait... I'm sure there's a good reason for it. Child Abuse

What would you consider as child abuse? (ex. your son is acting like a spoiled brat because you have refused to buy him the thing he insists upon, so you eventually get mad and drag him out of the store by his ear vs. beating him with an electrical cord once you get home - are these two scenarios a ...

Re: Love/Hate

When I think of hatred, I think of some punk pulling out a gun and killing a classmate for making him look bad. When I think of love, I think of someone giving up their life for a loved one. Now, with that said, I believe that one is good and the other is not. I believe that we can have the good and...

Called epigenetics, some of these alterations to the epigenome are heritable. And some are mutations I suppose? If we think about it, even those mutations are heritable. Between black and white there are many shades of gray. I've loved to hate. It's much easier to deal with the black/white -- once ...

I don't think I've trapped myself into thinking its difficult. I knew it was difficult before I started. I've seen family die from it. Same thing. I've also had family die from it, but they died because they trapped themselves into thinking that it's difficult to quit. You can't get around this. I'...

lol - I sometimes have a good chuckle while reading posts by DI. I really don't blame you for not understanding that which I'm trying to get across. My issues are with organizing my thoughts/sentences in such a way that makes them understood. Hopefully it's not completely unreadable for you.
